There are eight letters to signify a personality type:
I - Introversion
E - ExtroversionS - Sensing
N - IntuitionT - Thinking
F - FeelingJ - Judging
P - PerceivingYou can only choose one of the two, which seem to be more suiting to you, and they will form four letters that is your personality type.
However, you can not be entirely sure by this either. It just gives you a little accuracy before you start digging in deeper.
So, what do they signify?
Extrovert/Introvert
These may seem like the easier to determine. E and I are about how we gain our energy, whether with other people or by ourselves.
Extroverts are more likely to be confident ones around other people than introverts. They gain their energy from the outer world, while being with other people. They are more likely to love interactions, making quick decisions and breadth. They speak out their thoughts to clarify them and are likely to seem easily approachable.
Introverts are the opposite - they prefer being alone and gain their energy from inner world. They need alone time to think and clarify their thoughts. Introverts are more likely to prefer depth, and concentrating while working in dependently. They are less likely to make quick decisions, and probably because of the lack of relationships, may seem as less approachable and more reserved.
Sensing/Intuition
This signifies the way we take in information. It may be through out five senses or possibilities.
A sensor is more likely to think in the present and gather information from what they see or already have experienced that intuitive people. They tend to be more practical and factual, think more concretely and notices and focus on details.
Intuitive person is more likely to take in information through impressions and possibilities. They see the bigger picture and more patterns behind simple things than sensors do. They are abstract thinkers, their mind probably wondering into the future. They also tend to be more theoretical and idealistic, causing them to be less realistic than sensing people.
Thinking/Feeling
This is about how we make decisions. Haven't you ever been asked about whether you make decisions by head or your heart? That's what this is about!
A thinker judges based on logic and is critical and rational. They are more likely to give priority to the truth and be less empathetic than the feelers.
Feeling people are more personal, may take criticism to heart and are more passionate than thinkers. People driving by emotions are more likely to choose things that make them happy, rather than what is considered to be right.
Judging/Perceiving
T
his part of your personality is about the way you like to handle information.
Perceiving people take information as it is and are flexible, keeping their options open so they may change their mind halfway through things. They tend to be less organized then judging people and and procrastinate.
Judging people are more controlled and organized, planning ahead and less likely to change their plans. These structured people are very responsible and would rather finish one work before starting another, unlike perceiving people, who may start numerous different projects at the same time.
Although, they can procrastinate too, just like perceiving people can go fully with the plan. You don't have to strictly fit in with one of the options to consider yourself as one of them. Being more similar to an option is enough.
You should decide whether you're an extrovert or introvert and judging or perceiving, since in the next chapter comes cognitive functions. The functions are mostly about sensing, intuition, thinking and feeling and are the mist accurate way of determining your personality type.
