Today I wait for you again in the same place

"Channnn!"

"Jisungieeee!!"

Minho smiled as his hands unintentionally gripped the steering wheel a little tighter. He breathed out gently as he took in the countryside on either side of the road they were driving down, tuning out Jisung and Chan's conversation.

There were, admittedly, many problems with his little car. But, it hadn't given up on Minho yet.

"Chan? Chan you there?"

The call ended abruptly and Jisung sighed in utter dejection.

"I have full bars of signal. Your car is a piece of shit Minho. I want a motorhome."

"When you can afford a motorhome tell me." Minho half-heartedly snapped back, not taking his eyes of the road.

Jisung sighed again, pooling into his sadness at having no money. He slid down his chair, pouting, until his knees hit the dashboard and he leaped back, yelping.

The car shook a bit more than Minho would have liked at the sudden movement, but he was more concerned for Jisung as he rubbed both his knees and his head at the same time.

"What happened?"

"Wha- why is the dashboard hot?"

Minho smiled, "Cause it's sunny? Makes things hot? That's why you wear jeans." He patted his own to prove his point, "not shorts."

Jisung sulked again, trying to pull his shorts further down his legs.

Minho's heart sank slightly at the look on Jisung's face, but he didn't want to work out why.

"There's a blanket behind your chair if you want to cover the dashboard with it."

As Jisung rummaged around in the piles of their stuff behind the chairs, Minho rapped his fingers idly on the wheel of the car, observing, with little joy, the band of dark clouds moving their way over the horizon and towards the sky above their heads.

"Looks like the weather is turning." He mumbled to himself.

"You're not going to make me drive in the rain and the dark are you? I hate driving at night as it is." Jisung whined back.

He really was very whiny today.

"You tired Ji?"

As Jisung tried to hum in response his mouth opened wide and he yawned sadly.

"You wanna stop at a service station?"

Jisung nodded, still yawning.

There was no sign of any nearby so Jisung places the blanket across himself and leant his head against the window and shut his eyes, quashing his yawning.

Minho glanced over and a piece of Jisung's hair was sticking up, away from the rest.

He checked there was nothing within a mile of them on the long empty road and took one hand off the steering wheel.

As he reached over to Jisung's head he allowed himself to admire his sleeping face, his mouth was drooped slightly at the corners and every now and then he would wrinkle his nose as he shifted further down into the comfort of Minho's slightly worn, but mainly old seats.

Just before his hand reached Jisung's astray curl, the sleeve of his jumper shifted and Minho was immediately hit with the tan line from where the bandages used to be and the flower cutting through the scar from Him that still hadn't left like the others.

He smiled sadly at his wrist and lowered his hand back down to his side.

Eventually replacing it on the steering wheel and gazing once again out of the front of the car at the barren and slowly darkening road ahead.

They stayed like that for a while. Jisung asleep and Minho gazing off into distant lands he couldn't see out of the windshield.

At least Minho thought Jisung was asleep.

He had been, for a bit.

But then he couldn't help himself and he opened his eyes, enjoying gazing at Minho whilst there were no walls on his face.

The slight curl at the end of his eyelashes and the thin lines at the corners of his eyes from one too many smiles.

He made sure to close his eyes again before opening his mouth, as much as he didn't want Minho to know he'd been staring at him, he really didn't want to see Minho's reaction to the question he was about to ask.

"Can I ask you a question Minho?"

Minho was more than a little startled to find that Jisung was awake, but hummed in reply anyway. His mind was focused far from his body, trapped in this tiny car.

"What happened to your soulmate?"

As much as he tried to stop it, Minho stomach lurched and the car swerved slightly.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

He didn't think he could even get words out of his mouth to apologise.

He managed to choke out an, "Im sorry."

But all he could see was green eyes. Green eyes and brown hair. And that razor sharp smile as he gave Minho a tight hug goodbye. As the car drove off he that goddamned glint in his eye as he scrawled a message on the inside of his wrist.

That was the last time Minho had seen him.

Suddenly Jisung's hands were on his own as they guided the steering wheel to the left and Minho relaxed his foot off the break.

All Jisung could do was watch helplessly as Minho levered himself out of the car and went to sit by a small tree a while away from the car, looking up into the sky.

That had never happened before.

Minho has always kept the memories under control, he had never found it easy to talk about, but he had always managed to without the words feeling like they were clawing their way out of his chest.

He felt more than heard it as Jisung sat down next to him.

"I'm sorry for bringing it up."

"It's not your fault. I've never reacted like that before... I don't know what's wrong with me..." he laughed back.

"Minho-..." Jisung trailed off. "How about I drive for a bit?"

Minho just smiled at the sky.

Jisung offered him a hand and they both made their way back to the car and Minho say down gently on Jisung's pile of blankets, trying not to let himself find too much comfort in the scent clinging to them.

But Jisung's smell surrounded him and his heart slowed down, calming.

"I'll tell you about him someday."

"You don't have to. He's yours. Not mine, you don't have to share him."
