As if it's the last time
"My phone says that it's just around the corner," Minho leaned forwards in his seat, his eyes wide open as if it would help him to find Chan and Jeongin's house. It was an entirely pointless exercise, especially considering the fact that the house was, as previously mentioned, around the corner and couldn't be seen from the street they were on. Jisung found the whole image very endearing, regardless of the fact that it was making him doubt his boyfriend's intelligence.
He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, thankful for the distraction from the knot that was beginning to ball up in his stomach. It had been months since he has last seen Chan and Jeongin. So long that he now thought of them as almost being one entity; they were so far from him that their existences blurred. In those months, so many things had changed. A sharp pain rose up in his throat, regret over the friendship he had almost begun to lose.
In that moment, all he could focus on was the fact that he was so eternally grateful to Minho for inviting him on this road trip. He was so engrossed in his gratitude that he almost missed the turning onto the street. Felix screeched to alert him of the turning point.
Jisung veered around the corner, before managing to steady his hands on the wheel and creep forwards at an acceptable pace. "What number are we looking for, Felix?" He questioned, trying to tell which side of the street had odd numbers and which had even.
"Nine, Chan says to look for a yellow door."
Minho sounds around in the passenger seat, "They painted their front door yellow?" The incredulity in his tone only made the whole scenario more ridiculous, his legs were practically sticking to the glove box owing to the awkward angle he had thrown himself into, "What is this, the ninety eighties? I swear to god, if their decor isn't tasteful, I'm leaving. I don't care how much I miss Channie."
"Calm down, hyung," was Felix's helpful response, "I'm sure the interior design will be suitably Jeongchan, you won't even care that it's horrendous." His tone was mildly condescending, which usually happened when Felix got tired. Jisung realised that he would be thankful for a nap as well.
Instead of bringing up Felix's grumpy mood, Jisung hummed slightly, "Since when did they have a ship name?"
"Since forever ago, Sungie, I thought you knew." The confusion in his voice was evident, but was quickly masked as he almost yelled, "That's the house, that's number nine, that's a violently yellow door Jesus Christ!" His startling change of pitch caused both Minho and Jisung to jump in their seats, smacking their heads against the roof of the car.
Jisung laughed at the sudden outburst and pulled into the driveway, the wheels crunching over the no doubt expensive gravel. The brakes squealed beneath him, the car was suffering from being used for such an extensive period of time after having been partially abandoned for months.
As he awkwardly manoeuvred his legs from beneath the steering wheel, a squeal came from the house. "It is them, Channie! They're here!" Jeongin ran down the front steps from the horrendously yellow door, his sock clad feet padding against the smooth surface. "I missed you guys so much, I can't believe that you're really here!"
His excited chatter was enough to bring joy to Jisung, Jeongin had struggled for so long and it was nice to see him looking, as cliche as it sounded, free. He was so distracted by the younger boy that he failed to notice the violent embrace that Chan had pulled Minho into.
In all honesty, he hadn't even noticed Chan arriving.
He only caught the tail end of what Minho was saying to the older boy, because Felix and Jeongin were reuniting very noisily, but it was enough to bring a blush to his cheeks.
"He's really mine Channie hyung."
"It only took you a couple years."
