When the light that shines behind clouds that hide it
Jisung almost cried with relief when a sign for a service station came into view. It was illuminated by a flickering light, that almost seemed to buzz and made it very difficult for the younger boy to read. His fingers drummed against the steering wheel, the collision of plastic and skin feeling uncomfortable; a beaming smile overtook his face. Perhaps this service station would have Chozen Noodle - a warming paper cup filled with beef broth would do him good right now.
To be frankly honest, Jisung has no particular penchant for Chozen Noodle until he found out that it was Minho's favourite service station delicacy. He had found out roughly half an hour ago, and now he would stop at nothing to get Minho his noodles. The younger boy had been driving for two hours now, in near silence, his companion had spoken up only twice and even then it was purely to comment on his poor driving skills. He leaned over to crank up the heating, a chill coming in through the window, which was stuck in a slightly open position.
"Are you serious, right now?" The younger boy muttered, frowning to himself.
"What is it?" Genuine concern seemed to lace Minho's tone as he sat up taller in his seat. The blanket that was covering him had begun to fall of his shoulder and he quickly tugged it up. It was a shame, Jisung thought, for a specimen such as Minho to hide his collarbones.
"The heating doesn't work in this stupid car."
"Don't be rude to the car. And of course the heating doesn't work, this car is purely functional - it isn't for comfort. You'll heat up in the service station, anyway, stop whining Sung." The rest of the stage of the journey continues in silence, punctuated by the slight slam of the car door as Minho got out. Jisung winced slightly at the volume, his eyelids fluttering as the sun began to rise.
The younger boy followed him out, extracting his legs from beneath the steering wheel in a very ungrateful manner. He groaned in relief as he stretched the aching muscles, before hunching over so that he wouldn't hit his head against the roof as he climbed out. Jisung may have been small, but the car was even smaller.
"Come on, Jisung, we have to go get noodles!" It was the most excited Minho had ever been, he was bouncing slightly on his toes. Jisung grinned, it was kind of adorable to see the usually untouchable boy so childish. Unfortunately, Minho stopped bouncing the very moment that he saw Jisung watching him.
The two boys made their way across the car park, dodging excessive quantities of dog poo and almost choking on the stench coming from the bins. The lighting inside was practically industrial, amplified by the stark white walls and causing an overall sense of discomfort. Jisung was quick to notice another major issue.
"There's no heating, Minho." He turned to face the elder, "There's no heating." Something seemed to soften in the older boy's face and he peeled off his jacket. It was light grey and puffy, it looked expensive - he held it out to Jisung.
"Here, you big baby, put this on."
"B- but you'll be cold?" Jisung stuttered, his voice rising in pitch at the end and causing his response to sound like a question. He mentally slapped himself and regathered his entire being as quickly as he could. "Won't you be cold?"
"I'm wearing, like, five layers - I'll be fine." He shook the coat towards Jisung, he reached out hesitantly before slipping it over his shoulders. The residual dregs of Minho's body heat combined with the down jacket when he zipped it up, warmth began to seep back into his body.
"Thank you, hyung." Jisung mumbled, burying his chin in the very top of the zip. "Let's go get you some noodles."
"As if it was ever up for debate."
