~ Frankie's POV ~

Knock, knock.

I groaned. Who would be here so early? And knocking on my door, on a Saturday.

Knock, knock.

I reluctantly rolled out of bed and shuffled to the door of my apartment. I was sure going to let whoever this was have a piece of my mind. I swung open the door to see somebody I completely wasn't expecting on the other side.

"Nikki?" I asked, blinking the tiredness out of my eyes and trying to focus on the face in front of me.

"Frankie," Nikki said with a smile growing on his face. "I'm so glad you're still here."

"What's going on?" I asked, inviting him in. "Why are you here?"

I guess I should explain a little on why it was so weird for Nikki to be here. We used to go out, or something of that matter. Everything was casual and fun, until one day he told me he got engaged to another girl and that we couldn't see each other anymore. That was a fun day for me. I never really forgave him for the way he left me, without warning. But we still constantly saw each other because Tommy is my older brother. I kind of had to move past things if I ever wanted to spend time with my friends.

"Are you free today?" He asked, ignoring my earlier questions.

"Why? What happened to you and Grace?" I asked, folding my arms across my chest.

"She left me," Nikki said quietly. I suddenly felt bad that I had demanded for him to tell me what happened.

"I'm...sorry, Nikki," I said, still hesitant to feel remorseful for him. No offense, but talk about getting a taste of your own medicine.

"I just don't want to be alone right now," he said, stepping closer to me. He lifted my chin up with his hand so that our eyes were locked together. It was hard to stay mad at him when he was looking at me like that. God I hated him for what he did, but I felt myself feeling bad for him over what he's going through. And I'd be lying if I said I was completely over him.

"What did you have in mind?" I asked innocently as I felt a smile stretch across my face.

"Let's just get out of here? Go away," Nikki asked, moving his hands to my waist.

"Let me just get some things, if we're going to go away," I said, trying to pull myself from his grasp.

"No," he said, holding my wrist. "Let's just go."

I smiled and let him pull me out the door. I didn't even lock the door behind us, my mind was so excited for what was happening. Maybe it was dumb of me to think so, but was this really him reaching back out to me?

"C'mon," he said, dragging me along faster. I couldn't help but let my smile get bigger and giggle at the spontaneity of the morning. "I parked just a little further away."

"You got a Mustang?" I asked as we walked around the shiny red paint of the new car. Well, it wasn't new. It was an older one, my dream car.

"I know you always liked these," Nikki said, opening the door for me. "I couldn't help but think of you when I got it."

I smiled as he shut the door and I put on the seat belt, taking a deep breath, smelling the strong leather stench of the interior.

"Where are we going?" I asked after he got in the car and started heading downtown.
