"Hi," I say to a girl with black hair. "Is anyone sitting here?"
Lately I've been skipping lunch to read with Alex. He was absent today.
"No," the girl says.
Mary has replaced me with her new, popular and rich friends.
"I'm Stella," I manage, before bursting into tears.
"I'm CryBaby!" She says back at me.
I put a confused look on my face.
"Awe nevermind. I'm Genni."
Genni starts eating her chicken salad and root beer, and I open my lunch.
Nothing.
I had told Mom I didn't need lunch now, because I had a snack after school with Alex.
But now, I was starving.
"I forgot my lunch." I say to no one in particular. Genni hears me and gives me 5 bucks.
"Go get something." She yawns, shooing me away.
"Really?" I take the 5 bucks and jam in into my pocket.
I thank her and rush to the never ending lunch line.
I feel so much better!
