And here, Renjun actually thought that he's doing a great job without Jeno around. He was doing badly— no, he's making things worse.
"This used to be our favorite spot."
"We had our first kiss here."
"This place... I remember him confessing to me here."
In every corner of the city, every store, and every step they take, Jaemin keeps on reminiscing about his Ex instead of forgetting him. Renjun just wanted them to go out and unwind, make his friend let go of the memories he had with a certain someone, and move on. It looked like they were going down to their memory lane instead.
Renjun's throat was itching to scold his friend, to slap him back to reality, and to remind him how much of a dick that ex-boyfriend of his was. He was an inch close to snapping and letting his inner demons out just because he was upset.
This is why he needed Jeno around. Jeno was the only one who could calm him down and have enough patience to comfort Jaemin.
"Why did he have to snap first?" Renjun grumbled under his breath, groaning in frustration at how that guy had to lose his temper at such a wrong moment.
However, Renjun couldn't blame Jeno.
"That's where he usually buys flowers."
"He got me cotton candy there."
"We used to watch movies here."
Renjun understood that Jeno had enough seeing Jaemin still blindly loving someone.
But at the same time, Renjun also understood that it'll take a while for Jaemin to move on. After all, even if he was being played, at least Jaemin felt loved.
"Hey," Renjun knew the other had to move on, even if he needed to force it. "You're missing your Ex who doesn't care about you rather than Jeno who was with you ever since."
Jaemin can't help it. He can't help but feel the pain of being lied to. All this time, when he felt love, it wasn't real. At the same time, he was also bitter about his other friend. "Why would I miss Jeno?"
Renjun's jaw dropped in disbelief when he heard the other male scoff. "He's your best friend!"
"He left me!" Jaemin argued back.
"Your Ex also left you!" Renjun wasn't able to hold back. Having to deal with his hopeless friend was testing his patience. "And he didn't care about you when you guys split up. What about Jeno? Can't you see how hurt and affected he is in seeing you mop over someone who doesn't deserve you?"
Jaemin didn't want to hear it.
It was already a slap on the face to know that all this time, his ex-boyfriend was just toying him. Jaemin didn't want to accept the fact that it's close to impossible (already impossible, even) that they'd get back together. He wanted to lie to himself more, he wanted to gaslight himself that if he tried hard enough, he'd get his man back.
