Coincidence? I think not!
And now back to our regularly scheduled program.
Shuichi's POV
"Why are we here?" I asked Kokichi."Well, I thought we might have a little viewing party for all those motive videos! Y'know, eat some popcorn, snuggle up next to our loved ones as they watch the most important people in their life go missing." I felt my face grow hot at the mention of "snuggling up next our loved ones" and silently scolded myself. Really not the time.
"We can't watch those videos." I said.
Kokichi's face turned suddenly innocent and cu- nope. Not gonna say the c word. I don't think of Kokichi like that. Never. "Why not?" He asked.
"Someone going to-" he cut me off.
"I'm gonna go get those videos now! Gonta, start the meet and greet, I'll be right back!"
"Gonta will show you bug!" He proceeded to open tons of cases onto us, laughing and playing while we drowned in insects.
It lasted hours. I curled up in the corner, trying to keep bugs away, afraid to open my mouth, covering my nose. Curled and vulnerable. The others screamed behind me. They swatted and slapped, but it was no use.
"I'm baaack!" The door swung open and Kokichi came in with the tablets.
I'm going to be brutally honest here, I totally forgot how the meet and greet ended besides the the Keebo recording, so this may be really uncannonical
"Eww... there's bugs everywhere, how gro- I mean nice!" He fake smiled for Gonta. "I got the videos! And don't worry about this either- using Gonta is so easy. All I had to do was tell him you didn't like bugs and he did whatever I said!" Kokichi began to set up the videos. There was nothing we could do to stop him.
"Gonta, help!" Tsumugi screamed. He stayed put.
"I think I may be able to resolve this situation." Keebo suddenly began whirring. A voice was emitted- but it was not his.
"Using Gonta is so easy. All I had to do was tell him you didn't like bugs and he did whatever I said!"
"This true, Kokichi? Gonta asked.
Kokichi was silent. He had better speak now or-
"Gonta thinks it is true. Gonta thinks only way to make you understand is insect meet and greet." He let the rest of us leave. Kokichi tried to sneak out, and Gonta grabbed him by the shoulder. Kokichi spun, breaking Gonta's hold and dashed out of the room.
"H-hey, Shuichi!" Kokichi caught up to me.
"What do you want?" I didn't want to put up with his antics.
"I-I'm really s-sorry ab-bout that." He looked at the ground.
"I'm not the one you should apologize to." I responded curtly and began to walk again.
Kokichi's forlorn fave looked back at me, stripes of falsities, pure in its sincerity. "I- I know." He seemed genuinely ashamed.
We both stood there, close. Close, close. I began to get a little uncomfortable. "Of you have something to say, speak now."
Kokichi looked afraid. He whimpered and began. "I-I kinda, um... have a crush on you." His tone sped up. "But it's not a big deal and I'm sure I'll get over it-"
At that moment I realized that yes, I did think about him that way. I did love him. Before I knew what I was doing, I had wrapped my arms around the smaller boy.
He looked at me skeptically- "Was that a sympathy hug, or..."
"No." I said. We walked back to the dorms together. It all still felt a little weird. Too good to be true. I knew it was the next morning when Angie pulled back the curtain and revealed Ryoma's lifeless and broken body, and when I watched it be devoured and shredded, and when he was nothing but bones, I realized that it was too good to be true. Not because Kokichi was behind the murder- but because someone was. Someone would be dying, or we all would. My message to the murder? Speak now and save us the trouble. We will find you. Please give us a little help. For the hope of our survival.
