Shuichi's POV

"Uh... Hi Maki..." I quickly broke the kiss and stepped away from Kokichi.

"Neeheehee! It was just a lie!" Kokichi clasped his hands behind his head and smirked at her. "You didn't think that was, did you?" He leaned towards Maki, seemingly mocking her.

Maki's countenance didn't change. "I don't believe that for one second." The assassin said.

"Please don't tell anyone!" I begged.

She rolled her eyes and then smiled.... I'd like to say that she did so in a non-threatening way, and yet, I've never seen an expression on Maki's face that didn't scare me a little bit. "I'll keep it a secret as long as you can." She walked off into the next room to go continue investigating.

"Shuichi...." Kokichi wobbled around on his feet and then dropped to the floor with a dull, hollow sound. I slid my arms under him and picked him up, surprised by how light he was. I held him close to me and carried him to his dorm, each plodding footstep feeling heavier than the last.

The walk seemed drawn out, longer than normal, yet I didn't mind- I had entered a state of tranquility of sort, hollow yet filled up, which I suppose is concerning when one is carrying the unconscious body of their boyfriend, but I won't delve too far into my own emotions. That would really be a death wish.

I reached the dorm, opening the door with a hand somewhat restricted of motion, given his weight bearing down on my bent arm. It was unlocked (Thank God for simple gifts and plot devices) and the door opened easily.

As I entered, I was surprised by the surplus of clutter in Kokichi's room. I wouldn't have expected him to be the hoarding type, but there are a lot of things one wouldn't expect him to be. I laid him down on the bed, going to the bathroom and wrapping his head in a towel, applying pressure to stop the blood seeping out from his head. At first, the pink began to seep through the towel, staining it, but soon things stopped, or slowed at least.

It was at this point I recognized my dilemma- my moral obligation to stay with Kokichi and ensure his safety, and my all too real obligation to investigate and gather evidence on the case. The most alluring option, of course, being keeping the middle ground. I resolved to stay until he woke up. Hopefully it won't be too long... The others could manage an investigation just as well I could.

I sat down on the edge of the bed, staring off into space. To be completely frank, this was pretty boring as far as moral obligations go. My eyelids grew heavy, I laid back and closed them, not to sleep, just to rest a bit. Granted, we all know that's how it starts. Sleep began to drag me down into it's watery depths as I grew dead to the world.
