I push her into my room with Ike behind me growling. I make my way past her and pick up the box from my bed. She starts to cough badly to the point where a blue liquid comes out of her mouth. Ike nudges her leg then whimpers. She pats his head as if telling him not to worry.
"Toby... what's that liquid?" I ask pointing at her hand where she coughed.
"It's nothing. Just open it." She commands. I open. Inside, there is a letter and a strange map. The map looks like it would show us the way through the woods that are about a mile away from here. "I'll be back at 5:00. We're going to this place... I don't care if you like it or not!" She turns and storms out of my room. She didn't seem like herself. I look down to see Ike still sitting on the floor staring at me.
"Be carefull, Sarah. I'm not sure what you will see when we enter the forest. I will protect you though." I hear a voice in my room. The voice sounds like a twenty year old male. It honestly sounded like it came from Ike. After the voice spoke, Ike got up and left. Well, at least Toby is going to take her medicine... hopefully.
I was thankful tough. Toby gave me a good reason to finish my homework. I even got it done completely before 5:00. This never happens. As soon as I closed my laptop from work, my doorbell rang. I grab my bag, which id filled with anything that I might need on the small trip, and rush down the stairs. I open the door to find Toby waiting on the other side with Lily by her side.
"Hello Sarah. I'm Toby's mom-" Lily started but was interrupted by Toby.
"You will never be my mother, Lily." Toby grabs my arm and pulls me closer to her so that she could whisper into my ear. "You still have the map, right?" I nod. "Good." She says with a smile on her face, and she lets go of my arm.
"Are you planning on going anywhere, Tobias?" Lily questions as she pulls Toby by her hoodie to her side once more. "I would like to speak to some adult before letting any child that I am watching over spend the night or hang out with someone that I don't personally know." Lily looks around the part of my house that she could actually see into.
"My parents are out right now." I shrug.
"You can leave now." Toby swats away Lily's hand on her jacket making her let go. She grab onto Ike's lesh. Lily scoffs.
"Fine, but Ike is coming with me." She yanks Ike's lesh towards her making Ike growl and bark at Lily.
"No! You did not just say that! I can't go anywhere without Ike. And you yourself know that!" She snaps at Lily as if it's a huge deal. "You don't understand I need Ike to keep me safe from people like you Lillian." She growls at Lily. Just like at the school, Toby's appearance changes slightly again. I then slapped her hard in the head. The slap changes her back to normal. "Ow. What was that for?!" She turns her attention to me.
"You said you were going to take your medicine after I showed you the map!" I cross my arms.
"What map?" Lily questions and crosses her arms at glares at us. She is definitely going to be a problem.
