Nagito's Third Person P.O.V.
It was as if he had lost the ability to breathe. Nagito's brain had stopped functioning, and all he could do was stare at the person who looked exactly like him.
The stranger fell to his knees as his eyes landed on the tie that the albino was holding in his hands.
His voice cracked as he spoke.
"No..."
Nagito licked his dry lips, the death of Hajime still taking hold of his brain.
"Who are you?" was all he could muster out.
The male across the room turned to look at Nagito with dull, green eyes.
"I'm you."
"But... how?"
The room seemed to swirl in circles. Was this a joke? Had someone cloned him?
"I'm you, but from the future."
The future? Nagito found this hard to believe.
"I can prove it, too."
A mechanical sound filled the room.
"See?" The stranger waved his hand at Nagito, creating disruptive mechanical noises. His eyes stayed glued to the green tie.
Slowly, he made his way across the room, limping heavily as he hobbled across the floor. It was then Nagito realized that he had a black lump wrapped around his leg.
"Why is your leg like that?" he frowned, confused.
The Nagito from the future faked smile.
"Oh, that's right. It was entirely my fault for panicking anyway. Remember that person you met before you came to save Hajime?"
The brunet's name cast a silence over the two, halting their conversation momentarily.
Future Nagito cleared his throat, starting the discussion again.
"That person you stabbed, was me. That's why," the boy with the mechanical arm looked down at the floor in sorrow. "That's why I was late to save Hajime. If I hadn't freaked out and begged you to save him, then I would have the chance to rescue him before he killed himself."
A lump started forming within the albino's throat. This had been all his fault. His fault for stabbing their rescuer. If it hadn't been for him...
"Knowing me, I'd probably guess that you're blaming yourself for everything that's happened. I know. You don't need to deny it. I was like this when my future self came too," he chuckled humorlessly.
"I just wanted to stop this from happening," Nagito's voice broke. "I was just so useless..."
"That's why I'm here." Future Nagito stretched out his hand. "I'm here so that you can have another chance at saving Hajime. I've failed already, so it's your turn to make sure all of this ends."
"But it's already happened. How-" The white-haired boy was cut short when his future self placed two fingers on each side of his head.
"This is going to hurt a bit."
His other self applied a bit of pressure on Nagito's temples.
A rush of thoughts flooded his brain as it tried to keep up and analyze all this data.
Hajime and himself from different timelines.
Every single time he would fail to save the brunet over and over again.
He had to watch Hajime die a thousand times, each death more horrific than the last.
"Stop..." Nagito cried, stumbling backward. "Make it stop! I don't want to see this anymore!"
"It's going to end in a bit. It is overwhelming, I know. But you're going to need this information to help Hajime. So bear with it for a couple of moments." Future Nagito was somewhat annoyed, as if he was irritated at his past self's actions.
The pain slowly subsided, and Nagito could finally think again.
"Now listen carefully, because you're only going to have one shot at this." He told himself, his eyes hardening into a serious expression.
"On the same day, two years later, you're going to sacrifice your left hand to travel back in time." He paused, letting himself absorb all the information.
The albino nodded, signaling himself to go on.
"Now that you know what to do and what not to so, based on the memories that I've transferred into your mind, you're going to do what I couldn't do. Okay?"
Nagito bobbed his head meekly. His brain was still overflowing with questions, mixed with the shock of Hajime's death. It was not a very nice combination.
"Good." His future self limped toward the white-haired boy again, placing his forehead with his.
"This is going to feel weird, but I need you to trust me." He let out a breath.
What was going to feel weird? What was he going to do?
Future Nagito squeezed his eyes shut, concentrating on the task before him.
Suddenly, a funny tingling feeling erupted at the servant's skull, causing him to gasp out in surprise.
"I'm going to merge with you, so that our timelines don't collide two years in the future. You're on your own now, got that?" The tingling feeling intensified.
"Hey! Wai-"
Nagito's questioned remained unanswered as his future self evaporated into golden dust particles, which were then absorbed into his mind.
A new set of memories unfolded in the albino's brain. This time, it started off with how Nagito had stabbed his future self in the leg, disabling him, and ended with the merging.
Now what was he supposed to do? He had all this data of the past failures at his disposal, and he had no idea how to use them to improvise his plan.
Wait two years. Two years and then you can travel back in time on this very same day. His future self had instructed him.
So he would.
He would gladly wait two treacherous years in order to save the male he so deeply loved. It was a quick and easy decision.
It was for Hajime. He would do anything to have him back, to hear his voice again.
"Wait for me, Hajime," Nagito whispered to himself, casting a silent vow. He clutched the tie tighter in his fist, turning his pale skin into an even whiter shade. "I'll save you. No matter how many tries it may take."

Am I changing Nagito's personality too much?
I legit don't know anymore. His character... seems a bit wonky to me right now.
