Hajime's Third Person P.O.V.
A white, plain canvas. Shapes were blurred in the distance, outlines by the faded colorof white
"Hello... Do you know my name, little one?" A smooth male voice asked.
A feminine laugh. A tender laugh. A mother's laugh.
"Don't be silly. He doesn't seem to remember your name clearly."
A sigh of disappointment.
"I'm sure it'll stick once he becomes old enough."
He wanted to say the male's name, but couldn't seem to remember it.
He pieced fragments of the lost name together, snatching up whatever letters he couod find.
"Na... Mae .... da?" He suddenly giggled, feeling ridiculous at his poor attempt to say the boy's name.
He was suddenly lifted into the air with warm hands. The boy swung the child around in circles.
"There goes the airplane! Wheee!!" The boy laughed.
The child laughed along, too, before noticing his mother staring at him with sad eyes.
"Mama?" He asked, the boy placing him down gently in front of his mother.
"What is it?" She smiled faintly at her son.
"Why you sad?" The child tilted his head.
His mother exchanged worried glances with the boy who was playing with him earlier.
"!t°s n0th1ng $w33t13. Ju$t g0 pl@y w1th $○#*■^" Her face started to disappear into the white background, blending in with the color.
Huh? What was happening? Who was he supposed to play with?
His mother's face began to fall out in squares, like static on television. The boy next to her kept apologizing while tears leaked down his face.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"
Then, he too disappeared along with his mother, leaving him alone.
"Mama?" He asked, turning around in circles, attempting to find his mother.
Hands of darkness suddenly burst through the ground, wrapping around the boy's waist, pulling him deep, deep, down until the light before him disappeared into a tiny speck of dust.
Hajime's olive eyes snapped open, his chest heaving with fear.
What was that? Some kind of... memory? But it felt so much like a dream.
The warmth next to him had disappeared, the sheets already cold.
Huh? Where was Ko?
"It's not time yet! What the heck are you thinking?!" A loud yet hushed whisper followed through the slightly opened door.
"The black king's making his move. And as the white knight, you need to protect your own king. He WILL send pawns after you. When he runs out of pawns, he still has other pieces he can use." A feminine voice shot back.
Black king? White knight? What were they talking about?
"I know I have to protect him, but we don't know when the king will strike again! Toko's been off radar for three days and we haven't heard from her since! I can't just blindly go to his hideout and kill him off! If I die, He will get to him, and I am NOT letting that happen!"
