I twisted and turned, trying to break through the chains that bound my arms and wrists tightly to my torso. The freezing water slowly began to rise, swallowing up my ankles.

It felt like it had been days, maybe even weeks, that I had been living in a nightmare.

I sputtered, gagging on the cloth shoved in my mouth. I kicked, thrashed, cursed, and snapped. But nothing worked. The cold water began numbing my thighs, sending chills up my spine.

The black walls started in on me, pushing the water up and triggering the slight claustrophobia that still lurked in my fears.

The water was up to my throat by then, my entire body numb. I kept my head up, trying to suck in the little air I could through my nostrils.

It slowly clawed it's way up my chin, licking my cheeks from the small waves that rippled through the top of the water.

My heart pounded on my chest. I couldn't give in. I couldn't give in. My body got weaker, my vision beginning to darken as the icy cold liquid engulfed my head.

"Evacuate building. I repeat, evacuate building. Power outage." a voice echoed, sounding urgent. I blinked, everything blurry as a wave of dizziness washed over me. All I could hear was ringing.

My head throbbed, my throat as dry as sandpaper.

Finally, I gathered my senses a moment later. Everything was black, no light seeping into my vision whatsoever. I thought I was blind for a fleeting moment until I remembered the voice mentioning the power outage.

"James, Matt, come quickly!" my mothers voice said, sounding rushed.

I could vaguely see her outline in the darkness, gathering up things as quick as possible. Millions of footsteps ran down the halls, psychotic laughs along with screams of pain filling my ears.

"What's going on?" I asked once I realized I was no longer gagged. My voice was raspy from lack of use. I began comprehending everything, gathering my wit. The screaming.. the laughter.. the power outage.. everyone was escaping!

"James, Matt!" my mother repeated, even louder and more desperate.

I started struggling against the ropes and chains, cursing at my mother and yelling, "LET ME GO!" Everyone was going to be free, and there I was, trapped and unable to budge.

"(Y/N)?!" A strongly familiar voice shouted loudly. It was so loud, in fact, that it drowned out all the chaos.

My mother's head snapped toward the shout, and then she turned her head to me. That voice.. it was so.. familiar..

It all came back within a second, my heart beginning to race as I recognized it.

"BEN!" I called as loud as possible, my voice cracking. My mother ran toward me, slapping her hand on my mouth.

"You're not going anywhere." She hissed, her eyes fueled with desperation. I tossed my head around, anger building up.

She yelled out for her body guards again, shoving my head back in frustration when there was no response. I screamed against her hand, but it was all muffled.

"Shut up you disgusting hybrid! No ones gonna come! No one! Besides, who would ever want to save a useless, ugly creature such as yourself?" she growled, her nails digging into my cheeks, "You're nothing but an experiment, an inferior."

Something inside my mind clicked at that moment. Something that I had locked away ever since I was old enough to know right from wrong.

The anger I felt before was nothing compared to this. I stared at her in the eyes, frustration and fury slowly rising through my soul.
