Guess who's back b*tches.

I couldn't stop thinking about Charles for the rest of the next day. I would stare off into the woods while training with Jeff to see if I could catch a glimpse of his light brown pelt. Each time I did all I would see was the lush undergrowth and the rustle of leaves in the treetops.
Jeff decided he could teach me how to handle a knife and improve on my fighting skills without having to shift. I thought that was a good idea, considering the fact that my powers could apparently be disabled easily.
Night was rapidly approaching, but it felt like forever until Jeff called it quits and we went inside. I glanced behind me. I could've sworn I saw eyes burning in the darkness, but they disappeared as soon as I blinked.
I shivered, turning back around and hurrying up next to Jeff.
"You have a lot to improve on." Jeff remarked, a teasing smirk on his face. He had completely forgotten the little argument we had had, which was good by me.
I honestly got lonely whenever he gave me the silent treatment, so seeing him in a better mood than usual caused me to perk up a little. Even he had to be in a good mood every once in awhile.
"Pa-lease, I could beat you up without my powers easily." I scoffed. I seriously doubted that, but I wasn't going to admit it anytime soon.
He arched his eyebrow, "Oh really?"
"Definitely." I said, my voice confident. He stopped in his tracks. I pulled to a halt as well, turning to face him and crossing my arms.
"Alright.." he began, his eyes glittering. He abruptly started forward, yanking out his knife and aiming it at my neck. I gasped in surprise, instinctively jumping backward at the sudden action.
He grinned as he watched my reaction, snickering in amusement. I had actually never seen him laugh or anything before, only scoff and growl.
"You really showed me." he joked, twirling his knife skillfully and rolling his eyes.
"I wasn't ready, that doesn't count." I snorted irritably, regaining my composure and beginning to walk again. Jeff started up walking as well, his stupid smirk still plastered on his face.
"Yeah, 'cause your enemies will definitely care if you're ready or not." he said sarcastically.
"Whatever, joker-reject." I smirked as I said it, waiting to see his reaction.
He looked shocked for a second, as if he couldn't believe I had the guts to say that. I had called him an *sshole before, but this particular insult always seemed to press his buttons.
He faced me, his eyes flashing with menace. Or was it playfulness? I could barely tell. He got really close to my face, until I could feel his warm breath spreading across my cheeks.
I stood completely still, my heartbeat quickening as my confidence ebbed. He grinned and whispered, "You have a 5 second head start."
A shiver went up my spine, but I shook myself and immediately dashed toward the mansion. I wanted to prove to him that I could escape him without my powers.
Plus, he didn't seem to be furious or even irritated. He actually seemed.. playful. Was that even a word in his vocabulary?
I got about halfway through the woods before I began hearing Jeff's footsteps rapidly approaching. I inhaled sharply, stretching out my legs to go faster.
