A/N- Dammit! I'm so sorry. Thank you to Blueelf....Bluelf?.... Blue elf?......whatever! Thanks for reminding me. Winter break is coming soon, and for Christmas I might give everyone a present! I've been working on a new story that I really like and I might post the first chapter. Also it has tie ins to a second story I started working on. I am a story machine! You don't understand how hard it is to have my head, sirry to say but most of you would have offed yourself by now. But let's keep it cheerful here and get back to the invasion. Wow, that is one of the most contradicting sentences I've ever said.
My breath caught in my throat as the demons started to form. A huge mass of demons started take shape. In front of them, a huge demon, larger than an elephant took shape. A man cloaked in purple flames stood atop it and three young men stood in front of it.
"I believe my final offer reached you. Hand over the Shinigami family or the Vatican will be destroyed." The man on top of the demon said.
"Will you be satisfied with my head?" Rin asked, stepping forward.
My father's eyes flashed.
"It'll be good enough."
"Wait, Rin!" I called out, breaking free of Ratio's grip.
I ran to his side, grabbing his hand. I looked up at my father.
"He said he wanted the whole Shinigami family, and that includes me. Family sticks together."
"I thought I told you not to do anything stupid." Rin hissed.
"You're....You're alive. My child's alive."
"So this is my baby sister." The young man in the center said.
That must have been Ichirou. Sanjirou was on the right, and Jirou must be the one on the left. Sanjirou looked uneasy about what to do. Ichirou drew his sword and rushed at us. Rin moved to block me but he wasn't able to dodge the sword in time.
"Gahhhh!"
"Rin!"
He fell to ground, a small pool of blood forming around his head. Everyone was frozen in shock. This was my vision. Rin picked himself up, holding his hand to the right side of his face.
"You bastard." He growled.
"Ichirou, stop it." My father said.
Ichirou smirked and jump back. Sanjirou looked hesitant but began walking towards us. The shinigami behind us shifted into battle stance. Sanjirou stopped next to me and turned to face our father.
"I'm not going to let anyone hurt my little sister." He said defiantly.
"Let the invasion begin." Father said.
*****
The invasion began and shinigami and demons were battling. Ratio and I had moved Rin off to the side. My friends, Hajime, Sanjirou, my mom, and Dylan stood around us. Rin's face was bleeding and he kept a hand over the right side of his face. It was clear that Ichirou had gotten his eye.
"Rin, I'm so sorry."
"It's okay. I'll be fine but I don't know how I'm going to fight."
"Sanjirou, you can heal him, can't you?" Hajime asked.
"I can but limitedly. I can either heal him but have him lose his sight in his right eye, or heal his eye but I won't be able to heal his face." Sanjirou said.
"Heal his eye, I'll heal his face." I said.
"Alright."
Sanjirou and I took turns healing Rin. Once we were done, I wiped the blood off his face. He was able to open his eye and see but he had a huge scar. It went from above his eyebrow to slightly above the corner of his mouth. Reika gasped. Rin wiped away the last of the blood and turned to look at himself in the glass of a store window.
"At least it's cool looking. Let's go, we have a battle to fight." Ratio said.
Rin stood up and pulled out his scythe. Everyone pulled their own weapons out. Dylan stared at them in awe. Maybe after this was all over, we could take Dylan's to start training.
"We need someone within reach of Misaki at all times. Dylan, stay away from the battle. To everyone else, good luck and stay alive." Rin said.
We all nodded gravely. As we jumped into battle, Dylan went into an empty store the shinigami were using as an infirmary. I cut down demon after demon, turning some on each other. I could see Sanjirou out of the corner of my eye. He was using his portion of the demon army to fight the other side. The person near me seemed to change everytime I turned around.
"Onee-chan!" I heard Rokura shout.
I turned around and saw Rokura, in giant demon cat form, attacking a demon behind me. Had it not been for Rokura, I would have been seriously injured. After the demon was gone, Rokura bounded away to help fight more demons. Inari was also battling. She was magnificent. She twirled and lept around the demon in a flash of gold. It was almost like a dance.
I slashed down a demon and went to look for Rin. He was locked into battle with Ichirou, a fury in his eyes I had never seen before. I went to go check on the others while still battling demons. Everyone was fighting furiously. Now just to go over my vision checklist. Rin hurt? Check. Hajime use dragon ice magic or whatever? Check. Reika shooting at something? Check. Haruki and Harumi's fox demons fighting? Check. Rokura and Inari dragging injured people to get help? Check. Dylan running for his life? .....Oh shit!
I took off running, trying to find Dylan. I looked around frantically, but couldn't find him. I jumped onto a ledge over a store to get a better view. Over there! He was being chased by demons but he was running straight into a trap. I growled and hurried after him. I tackled him to the ground as a demon sailed over our heads.
"You are in so much trouble." I growled at him.
We were surrounded by demons but at least I was here to protect him. But there too many to fight without getting hurt. I sheathed my sword and reached for my demon sword. As soon as I drew the sword, the demons immediately faltered. If only I knew how to control these guys on purpose. I could use them to protect Dylan. As soon as I thought this, the demons all turned and began attacking other demons in the area.
"Did you just do that?" Dylan asked, stunned.
"I....I think so. Hey you, demons, take Dylan back to the injured shinigami and protect them." I shouted at a group of demons.
They stared for a second before moving. They surrounded Dylan and acted like a secret service guard. Dylan looked uncomfortable as they moved around him, but didn't argue. Now there was just one thing to worry about, who was going to die.
As I looked around, I could see the deviation of battle. More and more demons kept coming, and shinigami were dropping like flies. Someone grabbed my arm and pulled me off to the side. Rin was looking very concerned. Sanjirou and Rin had gathered everyone.
"It's hopeless. We can't win. We need to take out father, but we can't get close enough with all the demons in the way." Sanjirou said.
"How do we get rid of all those demons?" Harumi asked.
"I can't do it, those demons are directly under father, I cannot take control."
"What about me? I might be able to take out a good number with my flames."
"No, that wouldn't be enough." Sanjirou said, shaking his head.
"There is only one solution." Hajime said. He turned to me and smiled sadly. "I believe this is goodbye, Princess. Please forgive me and know this is for you. Sanjirou, please keep her from interfering. This is the way it has to be."
He turned and walked away. All the shinigami were called back, taking cover in nearby stores. I looked at Sanjirou, confused.
"What's he talking about?" I asked.
Sanjirou stayed silent. The demons had begun to surround Hajime in a wide circle. I grabbed Sanjirou by the shirt, gettingin his face.
"Tell me, Sanjirou!"
"Hajime is going to perform forbidden magic that only the Great Dragon demons can perform. He's going to sacrifice himself."
