A large crowd stood around inside the castle, some even still entering. Public speakings were usually considered very important, they didn't happen very often.
Lloyd stood up top of the double staircase, looking out amongst all the guests, along with some other important staff members and guards for general security.
How was Lloyd supposed to start?
What was he to say? He never once did this. What if he makes a complete fool of himself? Who would take him seriously after that?
He cleared his throat. "Attention." He said, but not quite loud enough. He said it again, louder. The chatter died down and all eyes were focused on Lloyd.
Lloyd internally panicked for a second. "So. Um. As you all know. Today we had intruders harm many habitable areas."
The crowd hummed an agreement.
"And I'm aware that we don't know who they are. So it is my job to find out that information. After very quick decision making and thoughts, I've decided the best thing to do, is to head out and gather more information."
The crowd got loud again. They didn't like the sound of that.
Lloyd held a hand up, "I'm not going far. I'll be back by tomorrow morning. I need to gather possible paths, directions, footprints, anything to get a small clue of who we might be dealing with. If they attack once, they won't hesitate to do it again. Especially knowing that we have very low security at the moment and our head isn't with us right now."
"What if something happens while you're gone?" Someone called out.
"I've organized a group I trust very well, they will manage this kingdom during the hours I'm away. Those uncomfortable with staying in their homes are welcome to seek shelter in the library. If we run out of room, the den will work as well. Try to stay together. Again, I will not be gone very long, I promise everything will go well. Word of me being gone is to stay silent. I don't want any information slipping out to the wrong ears." Lloyd took a deep breath. He has no memory of ever speaking longer than that all at once. "Meeting is adjourned." He added.
He then left with the staff that didn't leave to escort everyone out.
"You did well." One said, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I hope so. I must get ready now. I need to save as much time as possible. I have to find something. We'll get to the bottom of this."
