I could feel my heart hammering in my chest as we walked to the airport. Jun and I kept on sharing nervous excited looks before returning our attention to what's around us. Since we travelled with Uncle in his plane, we didn't have to wait for any luggage, we just walked straight out into where Jem would be waiting for us.
Mia seemed even more nervous than us, grabbing my arm tightly since Jun was holding the suitcase. I handed Mira to Uncle James before wrapping my arm around my little sister and stepped out of the sliding door.
My eyes quickly scanned the place to see where Jem was. I easily spotted him holding a large poster saying Happy Birthday To The Craziest Twins. Apparently, that's our name now. Next to him was Robin, wearing what was clearly Jem's black shirt on a navy blue jacket and black jeans. I can see his style was already being influenced by our older brother.
Jem grinned when he saw me then his smile dropped, staring at me in shock. His hand slowly lowered as he just stared at me, with my arms wrapped around Mia. She had her hands covering her mouth as she looked back at Jem and I couldn't help the grin making its way to my face.
Jem pushed the poster for Robin to hold before he came running towards us. I released Mia and stepped aside as Jem enveloped her into a hug, forcing her a few steps backwards. He had his arms wrapped around her protectively and his head lowered while he tightened his grip around her.
"Oh my God, Mia." He whispered as she started crying.
"Jem!" She exclaimed, her hands grasping onto his jacket tightly
"Is that Mia?!" Robin asked us as he came quickly "You guys found Mia?!"
I grinned at him "We did."
"Mia!" Jem pulled away and looked at her face while she tried to catch her breath "Oh God, my Mia." He kissed her forehead and pulled her back into a hug. "How are you, little one? How's it been for you?"
"I-I'm fine!" She cried into his chest "Yun and J-Jun found me!"
"They found us all, they really did."
"I was m-mean to them wh-when they came!"
"Shh, it's not your fault." He caressed her hair "Don't worry about anything now, you're our little one, nothing's your fault." Jem's face became grim as he tightened his grip "It must've been hard on you."
Mia shook her head "N-no. I had a f-family." She told him "I was h-happy. But I'm even ha-happier now."
"I'm glad. Oh, I'm so glad." Jem crouched to be her height and cupped her face in his hands, rubbing her cheeks with his thumbs. He stared at her for a while then laughed "We're going to be together. We're finally going to be together." He kissed Mia's cheek then rested his forehead on hers and closed his eyes "Mum and Dad are finally going to be at ease."
I felt goosebumps upon hearing him say that sentence and I knew my twin felt the exact same thing because we both instantly looked at each. I don't know about him but I've never thought of it this way. I never thought about what mum and dad would think if they were watching over us. Are they? Do they know we've all been seperated after their death? That Mia was sold at the age of six, I was physically abused while my twin was mentally tormented? Robin was trapped in a toxic household while our older sibilings had no way of reaching us whatsoever? Did they see us day after day, wishing death occasionally, losing hope regularly and doing everything in our power to not give up? How must they have felt if that was really the case?
"Of course they are." Uncle James said warmly as Jem got up to face him. "Your parents are so proud of all of you for being so strong and today, more than ever, they can finally rest assured."
