Hoseok Focus

“My father and my mother weren't exactly...in love before me.” Yoongi said, keeping his words careful. “In fact, my father kind of forced my mother into a marriage.”

“He what?”

“It was a business thing. My family runs things differently and he was raised to think it was okay. I don't condone it, but my mother chooses to stay with my father now.” Even if she doesn't have a choice either way.

“And you?”

“My mother became pregnant with me and so everything changed for them, I guess. They fell in love as soon as my mother found out. They’re still together.”

“You sound a little salty.” Hoseok lightly teased.

Yoongi nodded, sighing. “My mother shouldn’t love my father in such a way. I won’t force her to ever leave him or anything and I understand that after years of being with him she’s probably grown to love him a lot, but what he did wasn’t right. And he dares treat it as a delicate subject for him.”

“You resent him.”

“I do. And he always raised me to try and be like him, but I’ve never wanted to be like him. But...my father has a certain reputation, and I guess people just assumed that I was exactly like him, so they tend to stay away.”

“But you’re so nice!”

“I know!” Yoongi shook his head, and they laughed a little together. “I like talking to you, Hoseok, I think you’re a great friend.”

“Friend?” Hoseok blushed at the word. “Thanks. I think you’re a great f-friend too.”

Hoseok felt happy. He was making some friends. People he could spend time with. People who could actually get to know him. He hadn’t had a real friend in so long.

He’d always just been Hobi, the guy everyone knew. The one who always smiled and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. But no one was really his friend. Nobody got that close to him, he didn’t stick by the same people for more than a day.

He liked the feeling in his chest knowing that he now had a friend.

Yoongi, Jimin. And maybe the others, too.

“I think that we should get to bed now, we do have class tomorrow.” Yoongi said.

“You’re right.” Hoseok looked over at the clock. It was almost two in the morning. “You’re just so nice to talk to.” Hoseok muttered, closing his eyes.

Yoongi smiled down at him and watched the human fall asleep.

-

The next morning, Hoseok woke up to find the bed empty. He yawned and stretched, grabbing the clothes Yoongi had left out for him and pulling them on.

He walked into the kitchen to find everyone sitting there, eating some food. “Hobi! I saved you some. Better get to it before the animals do.”

“Uh, Excuse you.” Jimin scoffed, sounding offended. Jin snickered and handed Hoseok his breakfast.

“Thanks.” He said, smiling brightly. It looked so delicious. His mouth watered as he began to dig in, Manning lightly at how good it was. “This is so good! Thanks, Hyung.”

“No problem.” Jin said, smiling back.

Hoseok happily ate his breakfast, humming a little tune and moving around a bit, a bunch of pent up energy trying to be released. Hoseok turned, smiling to Taehyung, but he noticed the man staring at his upper chest area.

Hoseok looked down and noticed that the collar of the shirt had slipped down some. He quickly pulled it up, clearing his throat before turning back to his breakfast.

Maybe he didn’t notice.

Didn’t notice the huge bruise resting there.

And even if he had.

Maybe he couldn’t guess that the rest of his torso looked a hundred times worse.

-

“Come on!” Hoseok skipped along, pulling Yoongi with him to their first class of the day.

Yoongi followed behind him, groaning and complaining about how fast Hoseok was going and to slow down.

To which Hoseok only told him he was lazy.

They made it to class with about five minutes to spare.

“The guys were wondering if you wanted to spend the night again. We can stop at your place and get some things. I think they just wanted to hang out.”

“Oh…” Hoseok sounded hesitant again.

But he was gone, still.

“Sure!” He finally chirped. “Just hanging out at your place?”

“I think they want to go to some club they found or something, I don’t know. If you don’t want to go, we can just chill at our place, just the two of us while they go and make idiots of themselves.” Hoseok giggled at Yoongi, nodding.

“We’ll see. Thanks for inviting me, though.”

“Anytime. I want to get to know you. I want to know everything about you.”

“Everything?”

“Everything.”

And for some reason...Hoseok wanted him to find out.

Because deep down...Hoseok wanted to be saved.
