Chapter Fourteen: Spring Celebration

Dylan POV
I was still teaching Marilyn how to fight and use a firearm, challenged her a few times,"Remember, you sometimes don't need eyesight to know where your target is" I used a blindfold on her,"Dylan, what if I shoot you?"
"You're not, you're only gonna be using...sound and it won't be near me" I did warn the group in there to not come out, I had zombie targets out,"There will be bad guys out there trying to get to you, they'll be quiet, but know that, they will always make a noise" I put her in the middle and I told her to stand there, she did start out with BBs that Javier had when he was a kid along with a BB gun, we let her use it for the time being, so that is a good thing for her, I picked up rocks and threw it at metal, wood, anywhere and anything that makes noise, she did miss a few, after she was out, she reloaded it in her pocket and shot more, Blaire came out quietly, she whispered,"How she doing?"
"She's improving"
"Did you blindfold her?" I looked over at her,"Yeah, have to admit, we were there too" She nodded slowly,"Is she using real-" BB gunshot,"Nevermind"
"We can't waste anymore ammo for her, plus this will help her get familiar with the gun"
"Her birthday is coming up you know?"
"She's gonna be 11"
"I think we should threw her a birthday party before we leave tomorrow, you know" I smiledlightly with the thought of that,"Anyone here know how to bake a cake?"
"Courtney might, I can ask her, I can anyway, but I could use help with the frosting and whatnot" I nodded,"I could help you out with that"
"No, no you keep her busy out here"
"Okay, see you in there" We were talking while I was throwing rocks at objects for her and like I said, she did miss a couple times, I gave her a peck and she went back inside the house before she picked up a rock and threw at one of the targets, after a few more tries, I told her to take off the blindfold, there were targets and had paper on them,"How did I do?"
"Well you missed a few targets, but your hearing is in good shape, ready for combat?" She put her BB gun where we could see it and she got into stance,"What we learning today?"

Blaire POV
I went back inside the house and asked Courtney,"You have ingredients to bake a cake Courtney?"
"Yeah why?"
"Marilyn's birthday isn't until next week and I figured we can celebrate it now to show that we care about her" Her face glowed up and said sure why not, this happened early in the morning in case you didn't know, we were baking the cake around the clock,"How is she gonna be?'
"11 years old, she was 9 when we took her in, she told us she turned 10 aruond this time and we didn't get a chance to celebrate, but I figured since you had enough supplies and food in here that you might have the ingredients for a cake"
"Well I do and I do think that if we are gonna leave, we might as well leave with a celebration for her and all of us" I thanked her as we continued baking,"Is there something going on between you and Dylan?"
"Why?"
"Nothing it's just that you and him seem to be more closer coming from Fynn and Michelle" I sighed,"We're only looking out for each other"
"They also said that you and him have feelings for each other" I chuckled lightly,"Yeah I'm aware of that we do, but we are focusing more on getting back to The Organization because it's better that way"
"That is also what they said" I smiled,"Yeah because it's true, we just need to focus" She looked around and leaned in closer,"You can be honest you know?"
"What if you tell the others?"
"No one needs to know" I sighed and I admit it,"We are together, we just aren't ready to tell yet, we want to keep it on a low profile"
"I can understand why, I was in multiple relationships like that and they are more peaceful and less dramatic, but in your guys' case, you have nothing to worry about"
"But we just aren't ready to tell"
"And that's understandable, look I am not going to tell about you and Dylan, you tell when you guys are ready"

Courtney POV
We were working on it all day along with Dinner, I told Blaire that I need a bathroom break, Michelle pulled me aside and asked,"Are Blaire and Dylan dating?" I looked at her as she was baking and cooking at the same time,"No, they're not"
"It looks like they're-"
"You just can't assume that when they're around each other a lot means they're dating, would you assume Javier and I are together if we were seen with each other a lot?" She groaned,"But you guys are brother and sister"
"And those two are friends"
"Okay okay, I see your point"
"Now I need to go to the Bathroom" Fynn and Javier were put on watch around the perimeter, Chloe is watching Missy and packing the things that we might need. I came back down after my bathroom break,"How's Marilyn's progression?"
"He put a blindfold on her and threw rocks at objects for her to shoot"
"That's terrible"
"No it's what we had to learn you know, rely on our hearing as well, not just sight. She used BBs, Dylan was getting the impression that Marilyn felt uneasy about holding an actual gun at first, so he switched for her and plus, she needed to be familar with holding a gun"
"Was your leader training you to be Scavengers or a secret group of assassins?" I smiled,"We had to learn at the somewhat extreme, we never got to the extreme because he said it was time for us to go out there, we were running out of the majority of the things that we need"
"I don't think I got a chance to ask about your leader's name, what was it?
"Kavanaugh, Ezekiel Kavanaugh, from what I've heard, but Kavanaugh must've switched it to Kavanaugh or that could've been his real name all along"
"Maybe you can ask him that when you get a chance to see him again" We smirked at each other,"So Kavanaugh taught you guys to blindfold yourself and shoot at objects that makes noise and what else?"
"We had to learn combat in case we see an opposing threat out there, sign language in case we were held hostage, learn to increase our perception, improv with other tools besides firearms and weapons"
"Like strobe lights"
"Correct, most of the time that we've been in situations, we improv like when the group and I were on the countryside, this girl we thought we could trust was in some bad shit, another group was hunting her, she knew that they were probably come into the house...." After I got done hearing the story, I was shocked by that and what the girl turned out to be,"Oh god, I can't believe she'd do something like that, I mean what made you trust Javier and I?"
"The second I saw those strobe lights and when you stitched me up, I knew that you would great help of us and if we keep this up, we can make it back in no time"
"All of you deserve each other and Michelle deserved Leo the most by his choice of action, especially you and Dylan, not everyone can have the right mindset like all of you and what all of you are teaching Marilyn right now"
"Well in the beginning, Fynn almost lost his mind by leaving me, but he wasn't thinkig then" I nodded,"Javier and I had a brother, Colton, we lost him when he was 6 years old, we were all playing hide and seek with his friends at a birthday party, we didn't think to lock the front gate because we thought he knew well enough not to go across the street"
"He got hit by a car?" I shook my head,"We couldn't find him, he was known at The Lost Boy, a spirit lost in the woods looking for a way out, haunting those who enter the woods that he got lost in because...he didn't want anyone else to feel the same way, we looked everywhere, it's been almost 10 years and he was still considered missing, no body was found and no river was in it, we looked everywhere, our family considered him dead so they just forgot about him, not Javier and I, to this day, we still think he's alive no matter what, we'll know when we see him on either side, whether we're alive or dead"
"I don't even know what my brother or sister think of me, I know what Dylan thought of me" She shrugged,"He believed you like we believe about our little brother, but we can't go out there, we've checked there multiple times, we were grounded once when we were in Middle school for doing that, our parents heard us and they grounded us, yelled at us for being in denial"
"Like in Tomb Raider"
"Alice Vikander or Angelina Jolie?"
"Alice, when they said that she lost her father, she didn't drop it until she went to an island and found him then he died not too long after" I nodded,"I loved that movie more than Angelina, I mean she is a great actress, but Alice was more atheltic than her, you know the running, the lifting and combat" She thought about it for a second,"Yeah because Angelina was eh in it, but Alice stole the show"
