Unexpected Mission

-The Monday training resumes-

*Christa's POV*

"104th Cadet Corps Company, Attention!" Shadis yelled as we all snapped to attention and saluted.

"The man you see standing next to me is Commander Nile Dok! Commanding Officer of the Military Police Brigade!" Shadis continued.

"Oh great!" I thought to myself.

Commander Dok looked out at all of us, with nine of us wearing Trainee Corps cloaks.

"Commandant Shadis, why do these none Cadets stand out among the others?" He asked.

"These nine Cadets have shown exemplary skill with the ODM Gear and have shown initiative." Shadis explained.

"Tch, it's almost like they're trying to play the part of suicidal maniacs." Nile said rudely.

I stepped forward and saluted.

"Sir with all due respect, I would rather be a Suicidal Scout than a Cowardly MP!" I said.

"Christa!" I heard Bertholdt scold.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" Mikasa asked in disbelief.

"I don't care." I said simply.

"What!?" Nile screamed.

"Renz, I knew you had some fire in you!" Shadis said proudly.

"You're encouraging this behavior!?" Nile asked in disbelief.

"Yes I am. You MPs are uptight and corrupt and I picked the good Cadets before you had a chance to corrupt them too." Shadis said with as much contempt as me.

"How dare you!" Nile said in shock.

We all snickered.

"Did I tell you to laugh recruits!?" Shadis yelled.

We all saluted.

"No sir!" We cried.

"This brown nosed bastard will be observing you Cadets to see who wants to be the best of the best." Shadis finished.

"Sir yes sir!" We agreed.

"Dismissed!" Shadis called as we all left the training grounds.

"At least we won't have to worry about being picked for the Military Police." Mikasa said with relief.

"Still,that doesn't mean we should slack off." Jean warned.

"I kinda wanna join." Annie admitted.

"What?! But we'll be in different branches!" Connie exclaimed.

"So will Mina and I. Same with Marco and Hannah." Jean pointed out.

"Yup." Marco agreed.

Eren clenched his fists.

"Grr, spineless cowards." He spat.

Mikasa smacked Eren in the back of the head.

"Just because they have a different idea of serving, doesn't mean it's wrong!" She scolded.

"I'm honing my skills to fight! I'm not gonna lose my spine and let a damn wall provide a false sense of security!" Eren yelled.

"Eren, stand down!" Bertholdt ordered.

"No, I choose to be a soldier! I'm not going to be a damned parasite!" Eren insulted.

Marco kicked Eren's feet out from under him.
