I looked at the clock. I was anxious to get the hell out of there. It was Friday. Christa looked nervous about the whole thing. She'd blown off quite a few parties sense that night. I don't think she wanted to burden me, in fear of the same thing happening again.
To be honest, I was just as scared as she was. I was still trying to figure out how to ask her out. I mean, she doesn't even like girls... right? I just needed to get my head straight.
Christa and I parted at our houses. She said she'd meet up with me before the party, so we could get something to eat together.
I flung my backpack on the couch and leaned over the back of the arm of the chair. Tonight's going to be hell.
I woke up with knocking at my door. "Damn! I fell asleep." I sat straight up and opened the door. "Ymir!" "Sorry Christa, I uh... fell asleep. Let me change." She smiled and nodded.
"Christa... why are you so nervous about going to parties or social gatherings without me? I heard you hadn't been to one in 2 years before Petra Ral's?" She nodded and looked down at her food.
"I uh," She paused. She took a deep breath in. "Well, a few years ago, at a high school party, even though I was in the 8th grade, I was invited. It was all fun at first, then they came out with alcoholic drinks. Everyone was drinking. At first I was hesitant, but it seemed like the other started thinking I was a 'buzzkill," so I drank with them. We all got drunk, a lot of people were throwing up and meeting up in bedrooms. I eventually passed out on the couch. I don't know when I woke up, but the party was still going on. I tried to walk, but I had trouble. Guys began to flirt, and ask if we could go to a bedroom. After a few rejections, they started groping me. I tried to get away. I walked out the door and fell off the steps. I landed on my head. I was in the hospital for a month in a coma. I don't want that to ever happen again."
I stared at her. I didn't know what to say. Christa was always optimistic, but this was dark, and a side of her I'd never seen. She looked dead in the eyes. "I-I'm sorry. It was none of my business." "No, you should know." She snapped out it. "We should get going."
I was expecting it to be wild, but that's not it. It was calm, people were just casually talking. "Jean, this is Ymir. Ymir, Jean." I smiled and shook his hand. He's been a good friend forever. She hugged him. I got slightly jealous, thinking she. would have feelings for him, or vise versa. "Marco! Come here for a moment!" Jean called. Marco came over and kissed Jean's cheek. "Ymir, this is my boyfriend Marco." Never mind about what I said before.
The night seemed to run smoothly. Jean seemed to be cool, and a couple of other people I was introduced to.
We walked back to my place. "He's an ass when Marco isn't around. Marco is good for him. They've been together for a long time." I nodded. "Wan a stay over tonight?" "Definitely! It's not fun going back to an empty house."
We rented a movie. I looked down at Christa. She fell asleep. I got up and grabbed a blanket and put it on her. I went to my bedroom and went to sleep myself.
I woke up feeling warm. I looked over my shoulder. Christa had come in sometime when I was asleep last night. I couldn't help but smile.
