The Other Side

The team stepped out onto a clearing of a strange mortifying place the sky was a blood red shade that had drops falling from it and as far as the eye could see stood tall erect pillars made from flesh and eyes that looked at you no matter where you stood, the ground a soft squishy substance that oozed a strange liquid with every step you take and cried out an agonizing shriek, in the air was a foul reeking stench it was so intoxicating all of Hawk's apples rotted away before melting into a gluey mess, along with the disgusting smell the constant sounds of screaming and sobbing could be heard from all around as well as whips cracking in the air and hitting soft skin, the only light source available was the dim glow from rocks that appeared dotted around the ground.

"urgh" on the verge of choking"what's that smell," asked Travis, unfortunately, no one knew. Hawk put on a brave face and took two steps forward before collapsing to the ground gagging and covering his ears as the ground shrieked.

"That's it I've had enough!" shouted Astoria she waved her wand to cast a spell to surround them in a bubble but nothing happened.
Each of them tried to use their magic but their wands sparked and frizzed
"hmmm I guess our magic doesn't work here" "what now" asked Hawk trying not to throw up.

"Here take thisssssssss" a bottle rolled under Joy's feet"huh what's this" she picked up the bottle "driiiiink iiiiittttt" came a voice from the shadows "w....wh....who's there" trembled Travis a mysterious hooded figure slithered out from the darkness out of shock everyone got behind Hawk who stood feet apart with his fists clenched facing towards the figure.

It slowly moved closer to them stopping in some light that showed a creature wearing a black robe with long sleeves as well as a hood that covered the face.

"re.... *cough"* reveal your.... *cough* *cough*... Self" the creature pulled down the hood two fangs glinted from its mouth they eyes where white and soulless the rest of the creature was covered in scales "drink if you want to ssssstay"
"we're not gonna drink that it could be anything"
"I am here to help"
"how can we trust you" Hawk grabbed the bottle from Joy's hand "hey Hawk" he opened the bottle a purple cloud escaped from it, Joy, Travis, and Astoria protested that he didn't drink any of it, he wasn't listening to he stuck out his tongue and poured a single drop onto "yuk that was horrible" he took a deep breath in wait he thought I can't smell anything this is great and jumped up and down the shrieking from the ground seemed quieter.
"Hawk stop" his friends demanded as they were on their knees covering their ears.
"sorry guys" hands the bottle over and all three of them try it "Ewwww" went Astoria "bleugh" was from Travis "mhmm yummy" they all looked at Joy who just smiled "that was tasty" "oh Joy" Travis facepalmed his face

"Tell us who are you" commanded Astoria
"I'm ssssssorry it musssssst have sssssslipped my mind hello I am Ssssalmissssra and yes I am a giant snake"
Salmisra turned around and began to slither away motioning the others to follow her what other choice did they have so they followed her.

They walked to what seemed like an eternity till they got to an entrance of a dark cave "we are here" hissed Salmisra.
"we are not going in there" announced Travis "yeah" agreed Joy
"afraid of the dark are we" laughed Salmisra she entered the cave and the cave lit up as hanging braziers set alight down a corridor Hawk cautiously approached and entered the corridor as the others followed behind him "Hawk are you sure this isn't a trap" whispered Astoria
"I don't feel anything and besides if she can help us get to Rose I'm willing to risk it" "we hope you're right" sighed Joy and Travis not trusting Salmisra.
The long corridor opened up to a large opening filled with magical items and other junk.
"You can each take one magical item"
Joy and Travis dived into the pile throwing out random objects.
Astoria wandered off to what looked like a library filled with thousands of books her and her hair quickly went through them until her hair grabbed a large leather bonded book, this looks interesting she opened it up *coughing"as dust from the book filled her lungs she turned the yellow crinkled pages slowly "this looks fun" she followed the instructions and thought of a raven, the pages glowed out flew a raven "sooo cool I pick this"
