E and I had been dating exactly one year, eleven months and twenty three days. It was her birthday. I woke up and began prepping her surprise party. I had pulled some strings with her work to let her off early, and got in contact with her friends. This was gonna be the best birthday she had, I was going to make sure of it. I ran through my errands with ease, made sure to stop at our favorite coffee shop that was around the block. The sun was shinning, birds were chirping. Excellence was running through my body. I made my way to her work, she had forgot her coffee and I knew she was going crazy.

I sneaked up on her, she was frantically working.

"Hey dork, I figured you needed this." I said placing the cup in front of her.

"You have no idea how bad I needed this, oh my god!" she exclaimed.

I guess today was a busy day for her. I had never seen her so stressed out about what she was working on. I gave her a kiss on the head and told her I'd see her tonight. She was clueless and I knew tonight would make her overjoyed. Tonight had to be perfect, absolutely perfect. I made my way back to my apartment, taking in all the smells and sounds around me. The thought of her and I moving in together had been swirling in the back of my mind. Marinating in all of its glory that could and couldn't be. The plan was to wait until everyone was gone and pop up with her last gift for the night. A key placed in its box with a green ribbon. No way it could go wrong. I got home and finished up the last little preparations for the party and relax. Utter bliss.

Everything was in place and the last of her friends had showed up. She called me and told me she had gotten off early. Her boss kept his word and held his end up. I told everyone she was on her way, this had to be perfect. I told her the door was unlocked and to come in. Everyone hid and the lights were off. She opened the door and turned on the lights, a loud surprise echoed in unison. The look on her face was priceless as tears of joy started to roll down her face. Everyone filed in for hugs and gifts. I stood back watching the masterpiece unfold. The party went on, seeing her laugh and smile lit my world up. As the night went on, the people left, the music started to die down. As the last person left, I started to clean the apartment. Wrapping paper, beer bottles, plates, I never understood how people could be such slobs. E tried to help, I told her to sit down and enjoy her wine and relax.

I finished cleaning and started to act frantic. E asked me what was wrong. I told her that I had a present for her and couldn't find it. She was surprised and tried to help me look for it. After twenty minutes we gave up. We sat on the couch and I pulled the small box out of my pocket. She punched my arm, calling me an ass for making her look. I smiled and watched her face as she took the bow off and opened the box. Her jaw dropped and she lit up.

"Is this? No way, are you serious?" she exclaimed.

" E, we've been dating for almost two years now, I thought about this for a couple months now and was wondering if you would like to move in together?"

She paused for a second and put the box down. I saw tears start to form in her eyes as she smiled. Time seemed to stand still for a brief moment.

" I thought you would never ask baby, I was too nervous to bring it up, but yes I would love to move in with you."

My heart fluttered with unbounding joy, I pulled her close as if I would never see her again. A new path for both of us had begun, and I wanted no one else to travel this path with me. We flipped through the t.v until she started to dose off. The bottle of wine on the coffee table empty. I turned the T.V off and carried her to my room and tucked her in for the night. It was crazy to think that soon, our nights would end with us in the same room, sleeping side by side. This moment was all I needed to live in for the rest of my life. I laid down and pulled the covers over, she rolled over and buried her face in my chest. What a wonderful soul.

" You're everything I want and need in life E. I love you more than anything in this world. I promise I'll marry you one day and take on the world by your side." I whispered to her as she snored, sound asleep. What a beautiful day.
