The Door.

I approached the room, dragging my feet down the hallway. The dread of the next class was overwhelming me. The floors seemed to breathe in and out with every step I took. As I approached the room, the door seemed to radiate a golden light. I reached for the handle as I felt the warmth of the door course through me. I turned the knob and slowly opened the door. As I took a step forward to enter the room, I was pulled back.

My alarm was going off, I had exactly twelve minutes to get ready or I was going to miss the bus. No way was I going to miss it again. 6:36 A.M, just enough time to shovel my breakfast into my mouth and run to the stop. I hugged my mother as I scurried out of the townhouse.  6:42 A.M. I hear the other children at the stop arguing over who was going to get jumped today. I jostle my pockets searching for my phone. 6:47 am, the bus was early, she must have gotten a jump today. I put my headphones in and shuffle my music. It wouldn't take but nine minutes for use to make it to the school.

The air brakes engage and we file out of the bus, stumbling on one another. The time was 6:58 a.m,  she would be walking in at any moment now. I find my table in the cafeteria, gratified with little cartoon characters and symbols we came up with over the past months. 7:01 a.m, I feel her hand run down my back. My face reddens as she whispers in my ear.

"Good morning sweet thing." My legs turned to jello sitting down.

"Good morning Lotus." I said watching her face light up with bounding joy.

In all reality, the lotus within her that I had watched come to bloom, was alas wilting. We were not a couple, and the events that had happened two weeks prior were coming to an end. I watched as she ran to her newly established toy as I closed my sketch pad. The time was 7:18 a.m and it was time for me to go to my Physics class. I walked into class and took my seat. Eight steps up and three to the left from the desk. I laid my head down as the bell rang and the class begun. Physics never intrigued me fully. " what goes up must come down", "velocity this, acceleration that". It made sense but it was the same thing over and over.

My leg vibrated, and I let out a soft groan. Who in the world would be texting me right now? The teacher turned away and I glanced down. It was her. Why, of all people, would she text me right now. "I have so much to tell you in math", was all it read. I put my phone away and ignored it. I tried to put the possibilities of what she could bring up, out of my mind.

The day progressed and second period was almost over. Math was next and my brain was going haywire. So much for putting it out of my mind. 10:58 a.m., seventeen minutes left and I could hear what she had to say. Time seemed to linger for what felt like forever. I zoned out completely to what was being taught. It was current events, who the hell doesn't watch the news man, we know whats going on. The bell rings and I dreadfully make my way to math. Third period was always a pain because that is when everyone had lunch and our class had third lunch. The second to last lunch. I picked up some snacks and made my way to class. 11:23 a.m the déjà vu hits me like a brick wall. The floors breathed when I took my steps, and the door to my math class glowed just the slightest.
