Katherine
Monday morning rolls around and I start panicking. I spring to my feet, getting into the shower. I put an outfit on quickly. I put my new shoes on, grabbing my phone and backpack. I empty all my old school stuff then race downstairs to the kitchen. I fill my hydro then sit at the table with Anna and Stryder. "Honey, calm down," Anna says through laughs. I let out a nervous laugh. "I've never gone to a new school. I've been with the same people since kindergarten." A pain strikes my heart as I start thinking about Gunner. She puts her hand atop of mine. "You'll be okay. Just remember this isn't forever. One day it'll be over and no one will even remember that you're the new kid. Just take a few breaths and stay focused." I look her in the eyes, seeing the sincerity. I nod. She smiles and I do too. I start eating the breakfast she had made.
Stryder gets up, walking to the garage. I get up, wide-eyed. Anna laughs, shooing me. I jog to the garage, following Stryder to his car. As we approach a sleek black Porsche, Stryder grunts. "Get in," My eyes widen. This was his car?! I get in slowly. He hops in, starting the car and driving out of the driveway. "You have such a nice car," I murmur. He scoffs with a laugh. "What? Never ridden in a Porsche before?" I shake my head. "Do you not know where I lived?"
His cheeks turn a light shade of pink before he clears his throat. "Sorry, I forgot." I nod. "It's alright." He nods and we're silent the rest of the ride. The only noise is the radio and it takes everything in me not to sing along. I smile and nod my head to the beat. He pulls into the fanciest school I'd ever seen. He parks in a spot labeled 'seniors'. He gets out and I quickly do the same. He starts walking and I have to admit, he was pretty hot. But as we walked, everyone stared. It was more toward him than me. As we walked the stairs of the front, everyone cleared out of the way for him. What was he, their leader?
We walk in the direction of an office and he bumps into a freshman. "Watch it," He growls. The freshman runs out of the way, nodding really fast. I look at him with an apologetic look. I follow quietly the whole way. "Here's the office, now, you don't know me, and I don't know you." I look up at him and he raises his eyebrows. I nod and he smirks, walking the opposite direction. I let out a breath as now everyone's eyes were on me. Mine widen and I turn to open the door of the office. The receptionist looks at me with a smile. "You're Katherine Hart right?" I nod. She smiles, motioning to a door that had 'Dean' written across it, in gold letters.
I knock on the door and hear a faint 'come in.' I do as I'm told. A man in his early forties or so smiles. "Please sit dear." I sit in the chair closer to the door. "Welcome to Deahone Prep." I smile nervously. He picks up a file, squinting at it. "I see today is your first day." I nod. He gasps. "You used to live there?" I nod shamefully. He smiles. "Don't be ashamed, I used to live there too!" My eyes widen. He laughs. "I'm guessing this will be quite a transition?" I nod once more with a nervous smile. "You can talk right?" He asks, laughing. I let out a small laugh. "Yes, I"m just very nervous." He nods. "I understand. Well, here's your schedule. I suggest finding a friend to help you throughout your first week. They could be very useful." I nod, standing up.
I grab the paper from his hand and leave the office completely. I look at the paper, G hallway, room three forty-one. I look at the small banner above the hallway, hallway F. I start following the little map on the paper. Ten minutes later I find the exact room I'm looking for as the bell rings. I walk into the classroom, introducing myself to the teacher. "M-My names Katherine," I say as we shake hands. The man nods. "I'm Mr. Kusher, please sit," He looks down at a piece of paper. "The seat four rows back, the fifth one from the left." I nod slowly. Why so exact?
I shake my head, going to my seat. I get out a pencil and notebook. As the kids start filling in the seats, everyone pulls out a laptop. I look down at my notebook and my face turns bright red. I keep my head down until it's no longer red. I look up as the teacher clears his throat. "Alright, before we get today's lesson started, we have a new student." He points to me and everyone, I mean everyone, looks at me. My eyes widen as some guys smirk. One girl looks at me curiously. Then I hear someone mumble 'oh no.' I'm about to say something but I realize who it is. Stryder.
