It had only been a couple weeks since the sprites and I officially joined Nexus. We were staying upstairs in one of the spare rooms until we were able to get on our feet and live in town on our own. I didn't want to get used to depending on the Guild for everything for too long, it would have defeated the purpose of me leaving the Estate to begin with. But it was also nice knowing that Ryder and Cooper were right down the hall because it made the transition in our living situation go that much smoother.
I was used to living in a huge house with people I barely spoke to, let alone see. But, at Nexus, I saw these people every single day and the Hall was constantly filled with loud, overzealous voices. During my stay I was never chastised for speaking when not spoken to, everyone listened to what one another had to say, and I was encouraged to voice my own thoughts and opinions. My new friends didn't always agree with each other but they still respected one another...for the most part, I think.
It was still weird for me to consider these people "my guild mates", but to try and understand them more I was doing a lot of observing my first couple days because observing was all I knew how to do correctly. Tara the Guardian was trained to compartmentalize every person she came into contact with. So my stupid brain kept placing each guild mate into a Zodiac House. No matter how much I fought it, it became pointless. I didn't want to offend anybody in the Guild by telling them what my Guardian Eyes saw them as, so I wrote it down instead in a journal.
Darren: Libra
Flynn: Sagittarius
Jade: Taurus
Kayla: Virgo
Aria: Capricorn
Emilio: Aquarius
Sarge: Taurus
Yolanda: Leo
Dillon: Aries
The list continued for six pages. Taking notes on everyone made me feel dirty, like I was spying on them. I wanted to stop but it was like an itch that I needed to scratch. It was even worse when I found myself trying to read Naudia, Cooper, Hazel and Ryder.
Naudia had the power over ice which should have meant that she belonged to Scorpio or an extension of Scorpio because of how it represents the power that water potentially has and she could be really intense sometimes, but she also showed consistent signs of being a Taurus and Aquarius as well because of how strong-willed and stable she actually was. She was also seriously stubborn and had an unwillingness to change but she sought out the truth and was a logical thinker.
Hazel controlled the earth so she should have actually been in Virgo because of how she's able to observe and think quickly with an analytical and flexible approach. But she also showed signs of being a Gemini because most of the time she was rather...flighty.
Ryder should have obviously been in Aries because of how active, innovative and enthusiastic he was about everything. But Ryder was not naive like most Aries and he wasn't impulsive like your typical Fire Wielder either. He was methodical, always thinking about the situation from every perspective and considering the thoughts and feelings of others. It's like he was always looking for a solution to keep balance and harmony. Like a Libra. Except, of course, when it came to Naudia. She was always able to bring out his inner Aries.
Cooper, on the other hand, was actually the most like his House, Cancer. It's the most basic form of water and he was always showing concern for others. He was also nurturing and helpful and he had the power to find the true strength within himself when he had the urge to protect people that he cared about.
