The video embedded on the side is literally what I imagined Stef being like in this part (you'll get what I mean when you get to Stef's bit!) Enjoy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stef looked stunned at The Girl's friend - he literally looked like he would start drooling.
But it wasn't just Stef - I saw The Girl's Friend's expression change too - was it a mutual attraction? I found it absolutely hilarious, even though it was more or less the same story with The Girl, right? Only I think it was more one-sided, requited love with The Girl, on my part. Only she was nearly smiling at the moment - I think she was trying to stop herself from laughing, but I couldn't completely tell.
"Yes, a cheese grater," The Girl said calmly and very clearly, like a news presenter.
I waited for Stef to reply, or to walk off and find our cheese grater - did we even actually have one? - but when I realised he wasn't answering, I quickly had to stop the conversation going awkward.
"Would you like to come in, maybe?" I said casually (well as casually as I could). "And we'll try finding you a cheese grater."
"It's okay. We just need a cheese grater - it's fine if you don't have one," The Girl said quickly.
Damn! Wrong answer! You're meant to come in! And hang out! And then ask me out! I thought.
I then sharply elbowed Stef, who instantly winced in pain and clutched his sides. "Go find the cheese grater - you said you knew where it was," I hissed.
"I'm Charlotte - my boyfriend, Dru, lives here," Charlotte said pleasantly, introducing herself to our neighbours.
"I'm Natalie," The Girl said, shaking Charlotte's hand.
"And I'm Jay," said Jay. "And she's Maisie."
Aha! So I now knew her name - Natalie! Score!
Even though it wasn't me who'd found out anyway... cheers Charlotte!
There was an unbearable awkward silence whilst Stef was away searching for a cheese grater - could he not hurry up? Then I could offer for them to come into the flat again! Why couldn't Natalie have said yes before? Then her friend could get to know Stef better as well - they seemed to have fallen for each other already anyway! Whilst she looked studious and brainy, she didn't seem to have any common sense. Aargh!
"Um, why is your door metal?" Jay asked curiously, pointing at the huge metal which was currently dragged aside.
Really good question I thought, but then Stef came, holding a cheese grater in the shape of an electric guitar. Woah - I'd never seen this before! I'd never thought we'd had a cheese grater at all, let alone one in the shape of a guitar. Why didn't we grate cheese more often, when we had a cool a contraption as this?! Honestly, some of the stuff in our flat wasn't that useless - some of it was total gold treasure!
"Since when did we own one of these?" I asked, snatching the grater out of Stef's hands and having a good look at it. "It's so cool!"
I then realised I must've looked ridiculous in front of Jay and Maisie and especially Natalie, and instantly shut up. I handed it to them.
"Thanks. We'll return it as soon as we can."
I paused. Wait, she was about to go! No! No! I had to let her know I was interested! If I didn't, it was my opportunity lost! She might never come again! Of course, she could return, but maybe one of her flatmates would. And I couldn't ask them to see Natalie - it'd be so rude! And plus, I didn't have the courage. "Use it for as long as you need to... and, um... we should hang out sometime?"
