My sister's always been the more organized one. Her room could literally be Walmart's stationary and school supplies area.
Every thing has its place and every thing must be clean, kept in order, and proper.
She applies this to all aspects of her life. Including her wedding.
Saying that she organized and planned everything is an understatement. If she could do every single thing for her wedding, she would.
I'm honestly amazed at how calm she is but how fast everything's been going. Everything seems to be perfect for her big day.
After a week of hustling and doing finishing touches, we've made it.
I sit on the bed in our shared hotel room, gazing at the palm trees outside.
"May, come on. Your turn to get made up." She calls from the other room.
I walk over and sit in the chair, the makeup artist starting her magic on me.
In half an hour, I'm ready to get into my bridesmaid dress and get through this event. I'm not wishing for it to be hurried because I'm not exactly comfortable at weddings, no. I'm happy for my sister. Very. I just don't feel so good and want to sleep.
"Thank you for doing this, May. It's just a few hours." Macy says, giving me a hug. "I'll be doing some wedding photo ops but you go get ready. I'll see you downstairs okay?"
I nod at my big sister who still takes cares of me and mothers me like she should. She'll be such a great mom one day.
I slip into my fitting lavender dress and smile softly. I feel like a princess. Even if just for a day.
I get my clutch bag and walk downstairs where the photoshoot is going on.
Once it's our turn, the bridesmaids hurry and smile big, laughter ringing through the garden.
We walk over to the beach after, where the wedding will take place.
I look around at the decorations and people, wondering if I'll ever be able to do this. Not just plan this whole thing but actually find someone I can live with for the rest of my life.
"May?"
I turn around and see Eric. I smile a small smile and he walks over.
"Uh, y-you look beautiful." He stutters.
I smily shyly. "Thank you. And you look dashing."
He chuckles. "We're still not good at complimenting and taking compliments are we?"
I shake my head and smile.
It's been five years since I've last seen Eric. He and his family moved to another state and we've had new neighbors ever since that I never really talked to.
"Wait. Are you part of the procession?" I ask, realizing that he's standing here and not sitting with the guests.
He nods with a big smile on his face. "I honestly thought you guys might've forgotten about me already."
I laugh lightly. "We could never forget you, Eric."
His smile's brighter and he holds out his arm for me as the wedding begins.
"I believe you're my partner, Miss May." He says with a British accent.
I laugh and take his arm, walking in turn with him, light talk flowing in between us. The years seem to catch up and I realize how much I've missed him.
As we part ways at the end of the aisle, I get a sudden feeling this is the beginning of more than Macy and Harold's wedding. There's a new beginning for me too and maybe there might be someone who I can live with for the rest of my life, after all.
Eric waves and smiles at me from across and I smile back.
We spend the rest of the evening talking if not doing something for the program and I'm glad I decided to stay the whole time and not head back up.
Once the thought comes to mind, of course my body reacts.
A sharp pain spreads through my head and I almost fall backwards. Eric catches me in time and I feel light headed.
"I'm bringing you up. Your sister told me to watch you more carefully since you're not feeling well but this is too much for you." He says softly.
He helps me into a seat and I think he tries to find my sister.
After a few minutes I feel like I'm being carried. I guess I am.
I'm in the room when I open my eyes and fully focus on my surroundings.
Eric's holding a mug and he smiles softly.
"Drink this, okay?" He leaves it at the bedside table. "Do you want me to stay?"
"If you want to..." I mumble, my vision blurry again.
I feel him set at the edge of the bed and I close my eyes.
"I'm so glad you're back in my life." I hear him whisper as I drift off.
