The One Where Hayden Starts School

Annie's POV

Today was the first day of school after winter break. I'm not gonna lie I was very scared. I didn't have many friends,, in fact I only had one. Her name was Jayden and we had been friends ever since she moved to LA from Arizona in 5th grade. She's always stuck by me through everything and I love her for it.

I rolled out of bed and into my bathroom. I showered and washed my hair with coconut hair products and blow dried it,, deciding to leave styling it until I was dressed. I changed out of my pyjamas and into blue skinny jeans,, a yellow and blue baseball jersey,, black vans and Hayden's jacket. I then sat in front of my vanity and did my makeup. I don't wear much makeup to school because it seemed like a wasted effort. When I had finished I tied my hair quickly into two Dutch braids and secured the ends with some clear hair ties. I grabbed my bag and clattered downstairs for breakfast. I was usually the first person there but today Hayden was sat at the island eating a pop tart.
"Good morning. I see you're wearing my jacket." He grinned,, patting the seat next to him and indicating for me to sit down. I sat down next to him and grabbed my own pop tart.
"It's comfy." I shrugged. "Are you looking forward to your first day at a new school?"
"I guess. What grade are you in?" He asked.
"10th. What about you?"
"12th. I'm graduating this year." He said. "So I guess that means we aren't gonna have any lessons together huh."
"Not unless you're super stupid or I'm super smart." I smiled. "You'll get through it. You're nice and funny and hot,, everyone will like you and you'll have friends as soon as you step through the door."
"So what I'm hearing is you think I'm hot?" He smirked.
"Oh shut up." I said.
"You aren't too bad yourself." He grinned.
"Thanks cowboy." I said.
"Cowboy?"
"You're from Texas. You're a cowboy." I said.
"I can't even think of a nickname for you because I don't know anything about you." He thought for a second. "I'm just gonna call you cutie."
"Whatever." I said.
"Are you gonna show me around?" He said.
"Well that's gonna be pretty hard considering we have no classes together."
"If we get to school early we can." He said.
"We'd have to leave now."
"Then lets go! I don't wanna get lost in between classes and get a detention." He smiled. I finished my pop tart and sighed.
"I guess we're leaving now then." I said,, picking my bag up off the floor.

We walked the short distance to school,, and went straight to reception to get Hayden's timetable.
"Good morning Ms Lawton." I smiled at the receptionist.
"Hello Annie,, and...?" She asked,, looking at Hayden.
"This is Hayden. He's new and he needs his schedule." I explained.
"Ah,, Okay. Give me one second and I'll print it off." She said,, typing away at her computer for a few minutes,, then handing us his schedule.
"Thanks Ms Lawton." I said,, and we walked out of reception. "Right,, lets find your locker first so you can put your books in it and you're not carrying them around all day." His locker was number 204,, and mine was 235,, so they were on the same floor but not that close to each other.
We found his locker easily.
"I'm gonna go to my locker quickly. Wait here and I'll come back." I said.
"Wait,, what's your locker number?" He asked.
"Number 235." I said. "I'll be back in a minute." I walked away in the direction of my locker and saw Jayden leaning against it.
"Have you heard the news?" She squealed excitedly.
"What news?" I said drily,, opening my locker and putting my books in.
"There's a new boy." She said. "And apparently he's hot!"
"Is he in our grade?" I asked.
"No he's a senior." She said. "Have you seen him?"
"Not that I know of." I said,, knowing full well she meant Hayden. I slammed my locker shut and felt an arm around my shoulders.
"Hey cutie." I looked up and saw Hayden with his arm around me. He winked and I smiled.
"Hayden this is Jayden,, my best friend. Jayden,, this is Hayden,, the 'hot new senior boy' you were talking about." I grinned. She blushed furiously,, and Hayden just laughed.
"Nice to meet you Jayden." He smiled charmingly. "Now Annie,, are we gonna continue our tour?" He finished.
"I forgot about that." I sighed. "Jay,, I gotta go. I'll see you in homeroom?"
"Sure. See you." She said as me and Hayden walked away.
