The One Where Annie Turns Asher Down

Annie's POV

I woke up in Hayden's arms. It took me a second to remember that it wasn't just in a Friend way anymore.
"Good morning." I said,, turning over to face him.
"Good morning." He replied,, not opening his eyes.
"You need to wake up,, we have school." I said.
"Five more minutes." He said,, pulling me closer. I smiled and buried my face in his neck,, breathing in his warm scent.
"Stop smelling me." He groaned.
"It's called breathing. You should try it some time." I said. "Five minutes up!"
"It's been like thirty seconds!" He protested.
"I don't care,, I don't wanna be late." I said,, ruffling his hair. He pecked my nose and sat up,, rubbing his eyes.
"I'm up." He said.
"Okay,, I'll see you downstairs." I said,, getting out of bed and leaving the room. Just as I shut the door,, I bumped into Lauren.
"Why were you in Hayden's room?" She asked.
"I'm in there all the time. How have you not noticed?" I said.
"Because your life is too boring for me to follow." She said.
"Either that or you're too stupid." I said under my breath.
"I heard that!" She said,, threatening me with her hairbrush. I laughed and opened my bedroom door. I quickly showered and changed into a checkered shirt and black ripped jeans with my teddy fresh hoodie and plain black vans. I brushed my teeth and quickly put my hair into a ponytail and did some limited makeup.

I ran downstairs and grabbed an apple and sat on the island.
"Good morning miss speedy." I looked up and saw Nicole.
"Aren't you normally at work at this time?" I asked,, biting into my apple.
"Yes,, but today I don't have to be there until 9:30am so I thought I'd say hello to you all before you went to school." She explained.
"Alright." I said,, eating my apple and waiting for Hayden to come downstairs so we could leave. I didn't have to wait long. He ran downstairs quicker than I did and grabbed a banana.
"I didn't know you batted for the other team." I smiled. Nicole raised her eyebrows and sipped her coffee,, turning and leaving the room.
"I play for both." He smirked.
"Wait really?" I said,, throwing my apple core in the bin.
"No you idiot." He said.
"Come on,, we have to get to school." I said,, grabbing both my backpack and Hayden's hand and pulling him out of the door,, barely leaving him time to throw the banana peel in the trash can.

"What's your first lesson?" I said,, slamming my locker shut.
"Art. What's yours?" He asked.
"I think it's music." I said,, getting the photo I had taken of my schedule up on my phone. "Yep. I have music." Then the bell rang.
"I'll walk you to your lesson." Hayden said.
"No it's fine. I don't want you to be late to yours." I said.
"The art and music classrooms are basically next door to each other. I won't be late." He said.
"Alright fine." I linked my fingers with his.

We walked to the creative department,, and I was about to speak when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned round to see Asher.
"Hey Annie,, I had fun last night." He smiled. "Wanna do it again some time?" He asked.
"Asher I had fun but I'm not really feeling chemistry between us." I said. Hayden squeezed my hand tighter.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I mean you're a great guy,, but I don't really like you in that way." I said.
"Oh. Can we still be friends?" He asked.
"Sure. I'll talk to you soon?" I said. He nodded and walked away dejectedly.
"Oof." Was all Hayden said.
