I stood in the rain waiting for my lover. We had agreed to meet on 3rd Street, but for some reason I had a sinking feeling in the back of my mind that I was in the wrong place. But that also seems to happen every Tuesday, so it's not a big deal. Probably was just overthinking things again.

I checked my watch for the twelfth time this minute. He was supposed to be here 12 minutes ago. I tried to console myself, remembering how he tended to be late to things. I shifted my umbrella between my sweaty hands.

Raindrops fell in the puddles, rippling out. Luckily, it wasn't pouring, so I wasn't completely uncomfortable. That's a positive, right? People bustled throughout the town, having their own lives and their own business to get to. I sat at the bench at the bus stop, the rain dripping on my legs. People came and went; some sitting next to me as they waited for their bus. What they were waiting for eventually came to them, but it seemed that the same was not happening for me.

As the sun sank lower and lower in the sky, so did my hopes. It seemed that Obito wasn't coming. My habit of overthinking everything started to kick in.

Swore that you never would leave me, baby, whatever happened to you?

Did he even care? Clearly not enough to show up. He said he loved me though-- but was that a lie? Forever, he had said, but lots of people say things like that in relationships, and those don't last. Is our relationship like that?

My hands shook, holding the umbrella as I got up from my seat. I made my way home, looking at my feet, only looking up occasionally. I bumped into someone on my way, and as I looked up to apologize, I noticed something. Looking past the person, my eyes widened.

Why don't you show up and make it alright?

Obito stared back at me, relief filling his face as he stood up from the bench he was sitting on.

I ran towards him, discarding my umbrella, hugging him and burying my face in his chest. "You had me worried there," Obito said softly, rubbing my back.

I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block.
