And neither can I!) “Come on guys, we can’t give up. Don’t we all have something to fight for? We don’t want to die here for nothing, am I right? So . . . come on, there’s still more to talk about!” I tried my best to encourage everyone, but for a moment, I got no response, everyone just glanced at one another, and acted nervous or scared. “N-no . . . he’s right.” Toshihiro was the first to speak up “a-as scared as I a-am, st-stand-ding here right now, w-with no hope f-for th-the future. I-I fear d-death far too m-m-much to give up! S-so I will f-fi-fight . . . fighting to keep on living!” Toshihiro yelled in a mix of fear and determination (at least I have one) “thank you Toshihiro. Now, is anyone else going to join us?” I asked the group again “sure, I’ve gotta live through this no matter what! So I’m gonna give it my all!” Sora yelled encouragingly “yeah . . . yeah, I will too! I have someone I want to fight for” Akemi was the next to join in, her gaze focused on a certain someone across the room “I-I guess I could give it another shot too . . .” Rocky scratched his cheek and looked away, embarrassed by something, maybe a thought or something. “Have you all come to your sense? Good.” Scarlet spoke in a calm manner, like usual “‘bout time anyways” Kounna remarked, a hint of mockery behind his voice, but it seemed genuine for the most part. “Come on you guys, this can’t be it, I’m su-” “shut up” Rozū cut me off “what?-” “Do you honestly believe that we’ll listen to your stupid hope riddled speech? Vous êtes stupide de penser que cela fonctionnera une seconde fois ((You are stupid to think that will work a second time.))” I had no clue what she just said, but I could tell she intended to silence me. “You keep speaking of reaching the truth while you continue to deny facts” “what?” “You’ve been so busy disproving everyone’s arguments, that you’ve failed to shed doubt over any of their claims, they could have been lying to you, every single one of them, and you have just given them all the perfect alibi” Rozū’s accusation was cruel, but I understood what she was telling me (I. I’ve been too kind. If I keep believing that no one killed Junako then, we’re all as good as dead . . . Rozū is right. I have to stop trusting everyone so much.) “In that case. I think I should bring up another piece of evidence for this class trial” I gave everyone a glance while I spoke, seeing if anyone was acting suspicious in any way, no luck. (I guess I’ll just have to show them all the evidence then.)

“Part of the motive was a special key, simply named the Monokey. It can be used to open any electronic lock, according to the motive tab-” “again? Are we seriously gonna listen to that damn bear” “it’s all we’ve got to go on Kounna. So we’ll have to believe him for now” I explained a little more about the motive so that everyone was on the same page “oh, I get it now. So whoever got the Monokey could have left their room at any time to kill Junako” Sainõ deduced, oddly enough, she was right. “So, whoever had that key, is the guilty culprit among us. Well then, I suppose it’s time I ended this once and for all” Tako spoke to herself then to the rest of us, without hesitation she swung her hand out and pointed to her left “didn’t YOU have the Monokey last?” Tako made her accusation, Scarlet remained calm though, and simply pushed Tako’s finger out of her face “I hid it” “did you really? Cuz you could have just easily taken the key and gone off on your little murder spree-” “but your forgettin’ she was with me last night” Kounna chuckled as he came to Scarlet’s defense “what the hell?! No way! You two didn-” “are you that stupid? We’ve already determined that Scarlet and Kounna used the lock picks to attempt an escape” Hiroko hushed Tako quickly, before she could say anything vulgar “which reminds me, Scarlet, did you happen to check up on the key at any point last night?” Hiroko asked “. . .” Scarlet remained silent “Scarlet? What’s wrong?” I asked her, she didn’t respond again “maybe she’s just pent up from not having any s-” “when I went to check on the key last night . . . it was gone” Scarlet cut Tako off, a few people gasped or seemed shocked by her confession “i-it w-was gone?! B-but I th-thought y-yo-you hid it!” Toshihiro claimed with a shaky finger “I did. Someone found it, that’s all” Scarlet brushed off the comment “that’s all? That’s all?! What the hell is your problem? A man is dead because of that key! Why are you so casual about this?!” Hoshihiko yelled, Scarlet scoffed and refused to respond to her. “So, if the key is gone, then maybe Scarlet took it!” Jõshõ accused, Violet, Rozū, and Hoshihiko all agreed with him “well, I think that she didn’t use the Monokey. Scarlet wouldn't do that” I spoke back in Scarlets defense, Kounna, Sainõ and Rocky took my side “Scarlet has to be the killer! She’s gotta be it!” Sora yelled from amidst the crowd, clearly showing which side she took. “N-no! W-wait, hold o-on everyone w-we sh-sho-shouldn’t be fi-fighting li-ike this! Su-surely we c-c-can reach a civil con-”
