Part 26: Heat?

Jin and Jimin were both sat in the living room with towels on their heads when Jin finally stood up and spoke breaking the silence.

"Jiminie, would you like a drink sweetie?"

Jimin looked up and thought about it for a moment, not wanting to be a burden but also needing a drink, replying "Ummmm... yes please hyung." with a kind smile at the end.

Jin smiled back as he got up and walked into the kitchen to see what they had before offering "We have water orrrrr wine?"

Jin stuck his head through the door as Jimin said "Can I have water please." causing the elder boy to pout and go "Awww but water boringgggg~"

Jimin chuckled at his hyungs behavior and could already tell his hyung wanted him to drink because there were wine glasses already out meaning that Namjoon and Jin had probably already started drinking and he didn't want to be a spoil sport on his hyungs night (also wanting a drink so he felt fancy - not a valid reason but a reason enough for Jimin to change his mind.)

Jimin hummed again before cutely asking "Hm, how about wine?"already being met by his hyungs pleading agyeo.

Jin clapped his hands and brought the drinks through from the kitchen saying "Exactly what I was thinking~" before taking his seat on the couch next to Jimin.

Jin thought for a moment as he poured the drinks before asking "Jiminie have you and Yoongi had a talk yet?"

Jimin raised an eyebrow as he thought about what Jin meant so asked "About my parents being wolves and our packs being tied or about the storm?" Getting a swift response of "About your parents being wolves and about you being one and what that means."

Jimin hummed and slowly said "The answer for that is technically, it was vague but informative. To be honest though i'm pretty sure there are some parts hyung left out..." speaking honestly but thinking carefully about his words.

Jin noticed the reluctance so prompted him by simply saying "Like?" Giving Jimin a push to carry on.

Jimin fiddled with his glass in his hands before mumbling "A few things really but i'll just google them at some point. I don't want to sound dumb..." sincerely meaning what he said.

Jin saw how nervous Jimin was so placed a hand on the others and said "Jiminie, i'll answer any and all of your questions. And I promise if you have the question it's not dumb." Ending with a comforting smile.

Jimin looked up with curious eyes and asked "Are you sure it's okay hyung...?" Already feeling dumb but quickly being comforted and supported as Jin softly said "Yes Minnie, now ask away."

Jimin looked down at his glass and began to sway the liquid red substance around within it as he asked "If i'm a wolf how come I never knew?" Personally feeling dumb for not knowing before he was told and feeling dumber that his first reaction wasn't asking a bunch of questions about it.

Jin nodded in acknowledgment of the question and what he was sure was the motive behind asking and answered "Probably because you weren't around other wolves sweetie, and correct me if i'm wrong, you wouldn't have known about the werewolf world. So it'd be practically impossible to find out."

He was trying to be softer make Jimin feel more at home.

Jimin hummed for a moment in thought before asking "So technically I could live my whole life without knowing?" Earning a small nod from Jin.

"Technically yes, but probably not. Wolves live in and out of nature so you would probably face them in every day life and a wolves scent is different to a humans. If you aren't a part of their pack they would probably confront you or attack you and then you'd need answers so you'd find out. Theoretically speaking that is. Instead you got Kookie being silly and bringing you here."

Jimin chuckled lightly saying "It's a good job really because I prefer being chased by wolves with Kook rather than being attacked."

Jin raises an eyebrow at the new piece of information repeating "Chased by wolves?" Indicating to Jimin he should explain.

And he did.

"Yep when Kookie was taking me somewhere to find out his name, but they wouldn't go near the orphanage so it was fine. Yoongi said that there were more than one wolf pack so i'm assuming it was one of them..."

Jin frowned as he said "I'll talk to Yoongi about it when he's less rutty and more Yoongi. It's his first one so control will be out of the window..." creating another question in Jimin's head.

"What's a rut hyung?"

Jin wasn't surprised Jimin didn't know and was prepared to answer but first wanted to know what he knew.

"A rut? have you ever heard of a heat for normal animals?"

"Yes?"

"Well it's the same in theory except wolf packs go into heat and rut at the same time so population increases, it's a natural occurrence.
Both are similar in purpose but different in affect. Normally (in this fictional universe) it only happens between bound couples though, either from prior mating or imprinting. It sends hormones everywhere for both parties with the alpha being the dominant one in rut and the omega being more submissive and needy. A beta can be either really and don't have to deal with it because their lucky like that." Jin took a sip of his wine before carrying on.

"Normally leaving two alphas in the same house would end up in them being at each others throats but Joon is like a dad to Yoongs so it should be fine... anyways I suppose I should tell you more about heats and ruts since it appears you and Yoongi are in your first..."

Jimin raises his eyebrow curiously and repeated "Me and Yoongi?" Confused by what Jin said.

The other sighed and nodded asking "Did you not realise?" Getting a head-shake from Jimin.

"You and Yoongi have imprinted on each other Minnie and did when you were young even if you couldn't communicate. Now being around the other I'm sure that it'll have triggered repressed hormones that would've normally been released by now meaning it'll be a large scale and blow in result of it not happening."

Jin noticed Jimin's frown and raised an eyebrow as he began to worry about what the other was thinking, so he asked "What's wrong?"

Jimin looked back at him with a confused frown and asked "Is everything I feel towards Yoongi just because it's heat and rut season?"

Jin shook his head quickly saying "No that's a bond between two people. The heat and rut thing is just desire which is a form of natural selection or whatever and the need for an alpha and leader to have a heir."

"A heir?"

"Mhm. Yoongi needs to know he has a child who can care for his pack if he's unable so that factored in with the heat. Mixed with the irresistible temptation of wanting you in general and then being around your scent will probably be driving him insane. Then you consider the repressed hormones and what normally would be a lustful man turns into a sex beast."

"Huh-"

"Why else do you think I stormed in before? His scent started to grow stronger and stronger meaning he was losing control to the temptation and I didn't want my innocent injured Jiminie to have to put up with that when he himself smells like he's very close to and just needs provoking."

Jimin nodded as the memory of him and Yoongi on the floor ran through his head and Jin just looked at him knowingly.

"Don't worry though Jimin, I'm sure you'll both be fine. I suppose since you've had less exposure and because your not as in touch with your wolf yet you'll be fineeeee."

"I hope so hyung..."
