You had a crush on Leonard McCoy or Bones as he was known to most. This was painfully obvious to everyone on the Enterprise. Everyone except for Bones that is. He had a crush on you too, something that you were oblivious to, but everyone else knew as well.
You two constantly flirted with each other, stared at each other when the other wasn't looking, and did just about every other annoying crush thing you could. Much to the displeasure of the crew. They just wanted you two to get together already and stop with the cheesy displays of affection.
Uhura, your best friend, was constantly trying to get you to tell Bones how you felt. She kept telling you that if you didn't tell him soon, it would be too late. Jim was doing the same with Bones. What they didn't realize was that they may have been right.
You all had just been briefed about what had happened to Admiral Pike. There had been an attack on Starfleet headquarters by the fugitive John Harrison. Admiral Pike had been killed during this attack. Now, the Enterprise was headed to the Klingon home world to catch him and bring him back to Earth to stand trial for his crimes.
You walked towards the door to the bridge and it slid open, "Captain, permission to come on the bridge?"
"Granted. What do you need Lieutenant (L/N)?"
"I would like permission to be on the landing party with you, and the other crew members you are taking with you," you stated.
"I'm not sure that, that would be the wisest decision. What do you think Commander Spock?"
"Captain, given the fact that Lieutenant (L/N) is head of security, and has the best combat training out of all of those on the landing party, it would be logical to bring her along," Spock reasoned.
'Bones is gonna kill me.' "Alright, you can come. But make sure you don't hurt yourself, Bones would kill me." You blushed a little at that, but sure enough, almost everyone noticed. Luckily, no one commented. You were just thankful that Bones wasn't there.
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean captain." Everyone internally groaned at this.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
After the ship had dropped out of warp right on the edge of the neutral zone, the captain called you to the bridge, and this time Bones was there. "Lieutenant, yourself, Commander Spock, Lieutenant Uhura, two other crew members, and myself will makeup the landing party."
"Mr. Sulu, you have the conn. Once we're en route, I want you to transmit a targeted comm burst to Harrison's location. You tell him you have a bunch of real big torpedoes pointed at his head and if he doesn't play nice you're not afraid to use them." Sulu looked hesitant and nervous at this.
"Is that a problem?" the captain asked.
"No sir. I've just never sat in the chair before."
The captain patted Sulu on the back, "You're gonna do great."
You then watched the captain and Bones exchange some very heated words before Bones stormed out of the bridge. You were worried about him, but quickly refocused on your mission. You followed Kirk to the launch bay, and to the shuttle that would take you to the Klingon home world, Kronos.
------------------------------------------------------
After listening to Spock and Uhura fight then reconcile, and the captain out-maneuvering the Klingon patrol ships, you thought you might be safe. You were wrong. They had jammed your scanners, and you started to prepare for a fight. Uhura had gone out to talk to their leader, and you could only guess that things would go horribly wrong.
The captain shared your views, because he quickly handed everyone in the shuttle a phaser, "This isn't going to work."
"It is our only logical option. And if you interrupt her now, you will not only incur the wrath of the Klingons, but that of Lieutenant Uhura as well."
"I agree with Spock," you chimed in, "you will make her incredibly angry." It didn't matter though, because soon the leader was picking Uhura up by her neck, that is until he was interrupted by his men being shot at.
Uhura stabbed him in the leg with his own blade, then he was shot in the chest by you, effectively ending his life. The fight raged on, with a hooded man you believed to be John Harrison surprisingly aiding you and your friends.
You were soon cornered by a Klingon much larger than yourself, who proceeded to stab you in the abdomen before you could react. After that, you quickly shot him in the chest with your phaser, and proceeded to try and remain conscious long enough to make it back to your friends.
You were losing blood quickly, and right as your friends came into your line of vision, you collapsed and fell unconscious. The sound of your friends shouting your name was the last thing you heard for a while.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Bones had done everything in his power to keep you alive . He had operated on you with the help of other medical assistants to keep you alive. You had lost so much blood he was worried he wouldn't be able to save you. You were in a coma through the rest of the events with Khan. You still were. Even Jim had woken up before you, and he had died!
Bones was in your room, checking your vitals and general health, or at least that was the excuse he made. He really just wanted to visit you. He and Uhura had constantly visited you, as well as other crew members of the Enterprise.
What Bones didn't know, was on that particular day when he was visiting you, was that you were slowly starting to wake up. He was sitting next to your hospital bed, holding your hand. Meanwhile, you had regained consciousness.
"I should have told you (Y/N). I should have told you the moment I realized. I love your (H/L) (H/C) hair. I love your (E/C) eyes. I love your smile, your laugh, the way blush at the slightest little things. I love you. And now I may never get the chance to tell you."
"You just did." He nearly jumped a foot in the air when he heard you speak for the first time in three weeks. After his initial shock, he quickly got up and hugged you, being careful of your wound that was still healing.
He finally let you go, "So, I'm guessing you heard all of that?"
"Yes. I love you too Leonard. I have for a while, I was just too scared to-" you were cut off by his lips meeting yours. You two were broken apart by the sound of clapping.
Uhura, Spock, Jim, Scotty, Sulu, and Chekov had come to visit you in the hospital once again.
"Ugh, finally! We've been waiting for you guys to get together for forever!" Kirk exclaimed.
"Yep. Hand over my money Kirk," Uhura stated. Kirk handed her some money whilst you and Bones looked on in shock, embarrassment, and irritation.
"You bet on us?!" you and Bones asked in irritation.
"Yes they did. Everyone has been waiting for months for the two of you to become partners. I must admit, even I thought that the two of you would make a good pair," Spock explained.
The others began talking amongst themselves about you two's new relationship. "I don't think we'll ever hear the end of this."
"I think you're right."
"Would you maybe consider being my girlfriend?"
You simply couldn't say no to his adorable southern accent, "I would love nothing more."
And with that, the two of you kissed once again, ignoring the groans of your friends and colleagues. You figured there would be many more dangerous adventures yet to come, but now you could do anything with Leonard by your side.
