Mason's Point of View.
December 28, 1996
I guess you can say I'm spoiled rich. That really isn't a good way to start an intro or whatever this is but yeah, I'm rich. Spoiled rotten. My mother, Rachel is an attorney and my father, Randy, is an ex pro basketball player but now owns his own oil company so I guess you can say they're pretty "wealthy". But don't get me wrong, I work for my own shit. I mean I have money in my trust funds/ savings and I'm on a basketball scholarship but don't ever think I haven't worked for my own shit to get where I'm at now. My parents did help, but I was the one who actually put the work in. I did that shit on my own, without any help, and that's on my homies grave.
"I don't know man, she's just really weird." I spoke into Genesis's house phone as I leaned on the kitchen counter waiting for Mykah so we could go. I swear, females take forever to get dressed.
"She's just tryna be friendly Mason. She's probably just awkward, that's all." My good friend Tara responded. We had been friends for years and even though she was in California serving her country, I had always taken time out of my day to speak to her.
"Friendly? Psh. I don't know. Maybe you're right though. Maybe I'm just thinking too hard about the whole situation and the fact that Mykah is in my ear just throws off the whole thing." I looked behind my shoulder to see if anybody was watching me. "One minute she's so happy see her mother and the next she's calling her an evil bitch. I don't know, it's just all weird."
"Yeah.." Tara trailed off. "An evil bitch though? Damn." She chuckled. I shook my head in pity. "Yeah man. When I first heard the words come out of her mouth I was so surprised like that's your mother bro, stop disrespecting her. She just keeps telling me to watch out for her. I don't know why. She's weird but she's still cool and I'm still happy she welcomed me with open arms."
Tara giggled. "Well you never told me how she looked. Is she bad?"
I smacked my teeth. "T don't you have a whole girlfriend?"
"Damn bro a sister can't know how the bitch- my bad- woman look." She quickly corrected herself before I got the say anything. I was real strict when it came to other people disrespecting women, I just couldn't see how one did it.
"Well she's beautiful actually. She has this short red curly hair and these beautiful brown eyes. Her cheekbones are so strong and magnificent and her body... god... her body-"
"Who's body?" I jumped as an reaction to her startling me and turned around quickly to see Mykah staring at me, ready to go.
"Who's that on the phone?" She reached for it but I slightly pushed her back. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Mason who is that? Let me see?" She reached for it again.
"Stop." I told her. "T, ima call you later." I hung up the phone.
"T? Who the fuck is T? Are you really talking to a whole bitch right now?" She yelled at me.
"Chill, it was just a friend. Come on. " I walked around her and went by the front door. I turned around to see if she was follow behind me but she was still in the kitchen, arms folded across her chest.
"Mykah will you come on. This is not the time to play. We have to meet Brooklyn and Dalvin in 30 minutes." I said referring to my brother and his girlfriend who were also close with Mykah.
