What the fuck did I have to do to get some dick around here? Kill somebody, got damn. I had been celibate for almost a week now, but shit, damn, FUCK! This whole 'practicing celibacy' thing wasn't my thing. Like, at all.

"Marissa! Put the plate down, girl!" Owning your own restaurant as a black woman, was definitely hard. The grand opening of Gen's Garden was a week from now. I was so excited to open up to the world and show them what a 36 year old woman of color could do all by herself. Cooking was my dream. I had also dreamed of becoming a chef but this is bigger, this is better.

"Sorry ma'am." Marissa apologized and put the glass plays on the table.

"Stop apologizing and get it right." I said sternly and she nodded her head. "Yes ma'am."

Some of my employees would call me a bitch. Stuck up. Conceited. Arrogant. Uppity. Snobby. You get the drift. And in fact, I was. I was all of these terms and more. I could give a damn about these people. They worked for me. Not the other way around.

I looked down at my watch, and it was just about 3. "I'll be back!" I announced and headed out the front door to my convertible.

Getting inside, I pushed the key into the ignition and put on my glasses. The engine roared and I smiled. I loved being rich.

I backed up and turned on the radio. Bobby Brown's 'Don't Be Cruel' blasted from my speakers and I nodded my head to the music. Good thing he went solo, New Edition was cramping his style.

"Watch where you going bitch!" A young man yelled at me from in front of the car and I narrowed my eyebrows. Bitch? Oh hell no.

I stepped out and walked over to him, placing my hand on my hips. "Excuse me?"

"I said, watch where you're going. You almost hit me." He looked me up and down with so much disgust.

"Well maybe if you weren't in my way, I wouldn't have almost hit you."

"Whatever. Just watch where you going next time." He waved me off and began to walk across the street. My eyes followed him and he had stopped at the bus stop and waited.
Ugh, pathetic.

I got back in the car, and drove to my daughters elementary school.

The weekend of Gen's Garden grand opening had came and thousands of people had lined up to taste my food. As I greeted each person at the front door, Mykah handed them coupons. The whole dining area was packed just how I thought it would be.

"Mom, it's so many people." Mykah said as she looked at the lime that wrapped around the corner. "And they all wanna taste your food?"

I smiled and nodded my head.

"Look! Mom that's Crystal!" She pointed at a girl about her age and waved. "Mom, can I go say hi?"

"No, you need to finish. You can say hi when she comes up here."

The line continued to get longer and when Mykah's friend was the next in line, her ugly ass daddy was with her. He looked me up and down like he did a week prior and shook his head. "They got you working in the hot sun, huh?"
