"Mason..." He heard his voice being called the minute he stepped into Genesis' home. He looked up to see his Mykah leaning against the wall with her arms crossed over one another. She didn't look too happy.
"Hey baby. Why you still up?" He asked her as he began to take off his coat and hang it up on the rack.
"I was waiting for you. How is Dalvin?" She asked him.
"Oh Dalvin? He's good. He just had a little cold but ain't nothing no medicine won't fix." He walked up to her and leaned down for a kiss but she turned her head.
Mason raised his eyebrows. "What's wrong?"
"Dalvin huh?" She chuckled and shook her head. "You lying piece of shit." She hit him in the chest with her fist and he hissed in pain.
"Girl what-"
"Don't 'girl what me'! Dalvin came over here looking for you but you told me he was sick. He said you were going to a New Years Party but with who Mason?" Mykah's eyes lit up in fury as she waited for a response.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He replied and Mykah's mouth flew open in disbelief. "Are you kidding me right now? Who the fuck did you go out to see?!" She screamed at him.
"Yo, lower your tone when you talking to me." He turned on his feet and began to walk away but she stayed on his heels. "So you think you can just walk away from me? While we're having a conversation? What has gotten into you!"
"You need to calm down. It ain't that serious. I just had some drinks with some guys. It ain't that serious."
"It is serious because you lied to me! To my face!"
Mason rubbed his temples and shrugged. "Well I don't know what to tell you."
Mykah looked at him as her eyes began to well up with tears. "Do you love me?" She asked as the tears began to flow down her cheeks.
"What does that have to do-"
"Answer the question, Mason."
He looked down at his socks and back at her. "Of course I love you Mykah." He touched her cheek lightly and she blew out a deep breath. "Then why lie to me? Huh? Why did you go through all of this for nothing?"
"I don't know baby." He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him. He kissed her forehead, then her nose, and then her lips. But something wasn't right. His lips were sticky and tasted sweet, like lipgloss.
She broke the kiss and pulled away from him. "If you're gonna cheat at least have the audacity to wipe that bitches lipgloss from your lips." She snapped and wiped her lips off.
"Damn, well Happy New Years too you too."

The next morning, Mason found himself in an empty room and in an empty bed. He looked over at the alarm clock and the time read 3:34 a.m. Thirsty and hungry, he got up and walked into the kitchen, opening the refrigerator.
"Hungry?" The soft voice asked which made Mason almost drop his bottle of water. He knew that voice from anywhere. He turned around slowly to see Erica sitting on the kitchen counter with her legs wide open. Her fingers were planted in between her thighs and she bit her lip seductively.
"Erica?" He took a step closer to her but she held her hand up for him to stop. "Don't come any closer." She whispered but he didn't listen. He walked up to her, dropping the water bottle and brushed his hand against her hair. She shivered beneath his touch and closed her eyes. Their hearts were beating rapidly and Mason could feel her energy.
"Where have you been?" He cupped her face in his hands and looked into her light brown eyes. "I've been here all along." She kissed him slowly and he kissed her back. His hands traveled down her back and her sides.
"It's really you. You're really here..."
Erica smiled. "Of course baby. I'll never leave you."
"But I don't understand.."
She kissed his hand and his fingers. "I'll never leave you but you left me. And your karma will await."
"Baby I didn't mean-"
"Well you did. You did Mason. You took me and my daughters life away. Our daughter." She empathized and Mason put his head down in shame.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry Erica." His eyes became watery and single tears fell down his cheeks.
"Nigga please." She pushed him away. "You wasn't crying when you murdered me. Save those tears for another bitch." He fell down on his knees and weeped like a child.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." He rocked himself side to side as he repeated his words.
"Mason? What are you doing on the floor?" Mykah asked him as she looked down at him. Her eyebrows narrowed in concern. She heard everything but who was he talking to? The air? And who was Erica?
