January 6, 1997She was definitely lost. That was the L of all of this. What was it? What's that L word... love. Love, right?
O was for... shit. O was for 'others'. She was constantly looking for other men when she had plenty in her phone book begging to be with her, love her, and provide for her.
V was for vindictive. Genesis was always out for revenge and looking for someone to dislike for absolutely no reason. That wasn't her fault though. She just believed in getting back at people. And people just irritated her. That was just in her nature. Unfortunately.
And finally, E was for elegant and eloquent. Always carried her self with class and grace. The crown that was on top of her head never fell and she was looked up too. She was good at using her mouth (no pun intended). She was adored. Genesis was loved by few and hated by many. But that was just Genesis. That wasn't her fault though.
Sliding the black strap up her shoulder, she examined her appearance in her mirror and sighed to herself. She fluffed her red curls and slid on her boots. She went for a causal but rather sexy look for this particular outing. She was seeing this one guy out of many. But she kept this one close. Like a side nigga almost but not really. They understood one another. They needed one another. But they didn't want to be with one another. Well she didn't want to be with him. It was complicated. Wasn't really meant for anybody else to interpret. They knew what they had and that was the only thing that really mattered.
She unscrewed the cap off her red lip stick and applied it to her lips slowly so she wouldn't mess up. Her makeup only consisted of a lip and mascara. He preferred her not to wear makeup. He enjoyed looking at the real Genesis Ellë Carter.
"Mother," Mykah's soft voice said from outside of her bedroom.
"Come in." She smoothed out her black blouse and blue jeans. The door opened and in walked her daughter. "You look nice. Where are you going?"
"Out with my friend." Genesis simply replied. She didn't want Mykah or anyone else for that matter in her business.
"Is it a guy?" She plopped down on her bed and crossed her legs Indian style.
"Nosey Nancy." She chuckled but shook her head no. "Not with a guy. Just a mutual friend. Girl friend." She empathized. Mykah rolled her eyes. "Yeah right. You can't lie to me, I'm your daughter."
"Unfortunately." She mumbled under her breath which Mykah heard but didn't react too. She didn't even care anymore. "I was actually wanting to talk to you about something. It's important."
