"Hey." Levi kissed me on the cheek when he came up to me in the school hallway.
"Hmph," I lazily greeted and kept walking straight to first period.
"Why are you so tired?"
"Did you do the homework," I asked quietly, so I could use less energy.
"I did not."
"Well I did," I muttered.
"So it was a lot?" Levi raised his eyebrows.
"A lot is an understatement. Aren't you worried about how the homework can affect your grade?"
His forehead scrunched up. "I was absent for three days, remember? I kind of get a freebie or at least a few more days to do it."
I shook my head to try to remove the sleepiness and confusion. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I forgot."
"Are you all right?" A worried look crossed his face.
"I'm fine; I really am sleepy, nothing more."
"Did you not miss me enough to even notice I was gone?"
"Of course I missed you, Levi! I can't forget the only person I see every day. It's just too early, and I'm not focused yet." I rubbed my eyes with light frustration.
"So, you did miss me?" He smirked at me and stopped walking.
"Every second." That smile of his brought one to my face. He grabbed my chin between his forefinger and thumb to bring his lips softly to mine, forcing my body to relax with his slow kiss.
We went inside the classroom and sat at our lab table to wait for the second bell to ring. I kept talking about food because I was hungry, and Levi spoke about his days visiting his old home, New York. Apparently it was the place to be and have fun, and I believed it a hundred percent. The tourism and all the notable attractions were not what would take me back though; my aunt and her family would be the pulling factor.
"Are they going to let you play at the game?"
"Well you see, our football team is not that great. Not to be cocky or anything but they need me; I'm faster than any other quarterback he has ever had. I'm not saying I'm the MVP because to have a good team you need everyone; it's just that there's specific people on the team that are a little better and improve the whole team's performance.
"You're s cocky s.o.b. Don't act." I laugh. "However, you're right. They need ya real bad"
He laughs. "Fine."
After class, Mike, Levi, and I walked to the next one together. We took up a lot of space walking together, but we were seniors and no fishy was going to say a word about it. We said goodbye to Mike then continued to make our way to our class. Our schedules were horrible without a doubt; all of our core classes were in the morning. I struggled so much trying to stay awake and focused on the teachers and what they were saying. Calculus at eight in the morning was torture, and to add to that I had Levi distracting me as well; to say the least, it was the class I struggled the most with.
In English class, we watched a video about the novel Frankenstein and its author, Mary Shelley. I think I fell asleep when they began speaking about how people mistake the monster and the scientist who created him.
I remembered reading the book a few weeks before and hating Victor. He was selfish and ruined his life and everyone who was a part of it. Completely unfair towards his creation who only saw him as a guide and creator. Victor ran away from his responsibility and it cost him his family. His creation was not born a monster, but Victor Frankenstein's actions made him a monster.
