~Y/n pov~

You entered and saw the teacher wasn't there yet. You sat down at an empty seat and saw no other than the pureblood blonde sat in front of you. You wanted to pull your hair out at the sight of him. You've known each other for such a small amount of time that it seems impossible to hate each other. Yet here you are.

Much to your enjoyment, you saw Hermione, Ron and Harry enter. You smiled at them. They sat with you and you smiled, at least I have friends on my side. You thought.

Next thing that happened was none other than professor Snape walked into the room, slamming the doors open with out a care. Dramatic much?

"There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class. As such I don't expect many of you to enjoy the subtle science and exact art that is potion making. However, for those select few," He glanced towards Malfoy and to me behind him before continuing.

"Who posses the predisposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper... in death." Snape's ending words caused the entire class room to be shocked and filled with small murmurs.

You saw something in your preferial vision and glanced at Harry who was taking notes innocently. Professor Snape noticed this and had a hard gaze on the boy.

"Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough to not...pay...attention." Hermione and I understood and Hermione got him to look up, causing him to see the professors gaze. The professor walked closer towards our bench.

"Mr. Potter... our new celebrity." Snape teased. His tone completely different from the man that helped you out on your first day.

"Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Hermione's hand shot up as Harry was silent.

"You don't know? Well, let's try again. Where, Mr. Potter, would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?" Snape said once again embarrassing the boy. Hermione's hand shot up again. She did say she studied.

"I don't know sir." Harry mumbled looking down in embarrassment. You glared at the man in front of you. How could he say stuff like that, just to tease another student?

"Clearly fame isn't everything. Is it Mr. Potter?" He continued, you saw Draco look back and smirk victoriously at the boy and you wouldn't stand for that.

"Excuse me professor, but how is that fair?" You ask calmly standing from your bench. Everyone's eyes went to you having not expected an outburst, from a Slytherin none the less.

"I mean, how do you expect him to know that? How can you expect Harry to know things you haven't taught him? You must know he wasn't very aware of the wizarding world until recent, so how is it that he would know something that you, our Potions master haven't taught him?" You pause thinking whether or not to continue. Screw it. Nothing can get much worse. You're just hoping that you don't get expelled.

"As Head of Slytherin it brings shame on our house to know that you'd be rude and embarrass a student who has done nothing wrong except take notes." You stare at the man and he stares back not wavering for a second. Then what almost seems a smirk plagued the mans lips before disappearing.

"15 points to Slytherin. Although next time you speak out Y/n. Punishment will be provided." He said walking back to the front of the class. You nodded and took your seat. You carefully let out a shaky breath you didn't realise you had held.

You looked around and noticed both Slytherin and Gryffindor gave you appreciative looks. You looked at Harry who locked eyes with you. You saw the gratitude in his eyes and the nerves.

You also note Draco looking at you upset. Draco clearly hated that you had the guts to stand up, for his rival none the less. You stared Draco down until he looked away and back at his work, much more tense than before.

You took notes and Potions seemed quite your style. When class ended and everyone made their way to the hall you were bombarded with questions.

"How were you not shaking of fear?" A Gryffindor boy asked. You didn't have time to answer before move voices rung out.

"You stared down professor Snape!" A Slytherin student exclaimed. You felt heat rise to your cheeks.

"You talked back to your Head!?" A Gryffindor girl awed.

"You're brave for a Slytherin!" Another Gryffindor student yelled. You loved the compliments but it was a bit much.

Harry, Hermione and Ron tried to reach you through the hoard of Gryffindor and Slytherin students but couldn't make it. Due to the amount.

"Why'd you do it?!" A student asked. You were overwhelmed and didn't know what to see and Hermione couldn't get through to you.

You needed to get this situation under control, quickly. You yelled quiet and to your surprise they did.

Silence, silence so thick you could hear a pin drop.

"Now, I was only protecting a friend, Harry. I'm sure all of you would've done the same." You say looking at the huge amount of people clouding around you.

"Now, I'm going to go with my friends as I'm sure you all have your own thing to do, so be one your way." You explained. Most did but you saw Draco and his gang in the back watching you take charge and "Betray them" as you turned and walked with the golden trio.

"Thanks Y/n. I really didn't know anything." Harry says looking down.

"He doesn't get to tease and embarrass you like that. I'll do it again if I need to." You comfort him placing a hand on his shoulder. He smiles knowing you are for sure there for him.

You all headed to the Great hall and studied while sharing gossip, classes and the new events. You told them about how Draco was acting and how things were going in Slytherin. You couldn't believe sooner rather than later, Winter break would be on its way even though school just started. Hogwarts truly is an amazing school. You'll think you'll like it here. Even with the Malfoy views hanging on your shoulder.
