Chapter twenty five - Detention (part 1)

Y/n pov

You look at the window and see it's almost dark. You had a check in and asked your homework that you didn't completely was dropped off in your room, given you couldn't leave the medical ward just yet.

That is until Filch came to fetch you for detention. You groaned in anticipation.

You find yourself with the trio and Draco walking outside in the cold of night. How could anyone live in the cold weather in theses uniforms. You didn't even have your scarf.

"It's a pity they let the old punishments die. There was a time, detention was I'd have ya hanging by your thumbs in the dungeons. God, I miss the screaming." Hermione and I look disturbed Ron looks shocked as does Harry, as for Draco he looked uneasy. What the hell is wrong with this guy?

"You'll be serving detention with Hagrid tonight. He's got a little job to do, inside the Dark forest." Filch laughed. All you could think about is the times you spent in the forest both with Quirrell, you hope this time is different.

"A sorry lot this is, Hagrid." Filch said pointing his lantern toward the five of you. You can't believe he still works here.

"Good god man, you're not still on about that bloody dragon are ya?" He asks seeing Hagrid's sour face. So, Draco did say something to one of the teachers. You glare at Draco and he listens with interest as to what trouble he caused the man.

"Norbert's gone. Dumbledore sent him off to Romania. To live in a colony." Hagrid explains to the lot of us. Draco looks smug but attempts to hold it in.

"Well that's good isn't it? He'll be with his own kind." Hermione attempted to console that man. He looks down prepping his gear.

"Yeah, but what if he don't like Romania? What if the other dragons are mean to him? He's only a baby after all." Hagrid's concerns were sweet but the Dragon was most likely better off in a colony. Poor man.

"Oh, for god's sake pull yourself together man. You're going into the forest Afterall. Gotta have your wits about ya, eh." Filch says rather harshly.

"The forest? I thought that was a joke. We can't go in there, students aren't allowed. And there are..." Draco stutters looking for the right words
"Werewolves." He finished Harry looks really scared so you pat him on the back, silently telling him it'll be just fine.

"Oh, there's more than Werewolves in those trees. You can be sure of that." Draco looked worried about what could happen. You smiled. Maybe it won't be that bad.

"Nighty night." Filch says before wandering back to the castle.

"Right, lets go." Hagrid says holding his crossbow. We all reluctantly saunter into the forest until we come across a pool of sliver liquid. It smells bloody awful but looks like the stuff of both dreams and nightmares.

Hagrid slips his fingers in it and feels around. He must know something we don't. He wouldn't put us in unnecessary danger... though this whole this is unnecessary.

"Hagrid, what is that?" Harry questions a lump in his throat.

"What we're hear for. See that, that's unicorn blood that is." Hagrid informs us.

"But who'd want to hurt a Unicorn?" You ask. Hagrid looks worried by that question, maybe he didn't know... or maybe he did and wished he didn't.

"I don't know. I'm hoping we find out. I found one dead a few weeks ago. Now this one has been hurt bad by something." Hagrid looks into the forest as we hear creaks and cracking of branches.

"So, its our job, to go and find the poor beast." You nod looking around at the creepy woods.

"Ron Hermione, you'll come with me." They looked relived but you however were nervous out of your mind.

"Harry, Y/n and Malfoy will be the second team." You nodded knowing this is what would happen.

"Okay, then I get Fang." Draco called. The dog whimpered.

"Fine, but just so you know, he's a bloody coward." Hagrid told us. Fang whimpered again hiding behind Harry or I as we walk.

You, Harry and Draco start walking Fang by your side clearly nervous. You take the lead, Draco being to scared and also to proud to admit it. And Harry was scared to but he was also the one who knew less about the woods. You spent the most time in here, maybe they didn't know that but you did. It made you feel strong and braver.

"Wait 'til my father hears about this! This is servant stuff!" You roll your eyes at Draco's comment.

"If I didn't know better Draco, I'd say you're scared." Harry said confidently. You hated being trapped with these two, their light bickering.

"Scared, potter." Malfoy spits. You hear a whine and you put your arms out both boys running into them.

"Did you hear that?" I ask.

"Hear what?" Harry asked.

"Shh." You say motioning quiet. You could hear absolutely everything.

You don't hear anything else and move forward. Draco mutters about how stupid it'd sound to be "Scared". You on the other hand just wanted to be as far away from your professors as possible.

We walk into a Narrow part of the forest, more open too. Fang stops low growling sounds emit from him, meanwhile you look up and see a horrendous sight, someone... feeding off a unicorn. The black cloaked figure hadn't noticed us yet but you knew it was only time.

"What is it Fang?" Harry asks, you hit Harrys arm he looks up and stares in fear as well.

Harry gasps and grabs his head meanwhile Draco screams and runs off. You hear the ringing in your ears and shake your head clear. Well, if it didn't notice us before it sure as hell did now. Hound runs away hopefully to find Hagrid, Hermione and Ron.

"Draco!" You call out but the boy just keeps running. You looked for the light but the fog was now too dense.

Who or whatever it was seemed to get closer to Harry growing taller, as it had the blood of the unicorn still dripping from its lips. You quickly ran towards Harry shielding him from any incoming blow as Harry had stumbled backwards, cornering himself.

Then out of nowhere a centaur appeared! It seemed to scared the cloaked thing off. The centaurs are nice people most of the time. Harry should be safe with him. Now there was just one more problem. Malfoy.
