"Where is he?" Aelin gritted out, keeping an eye on Aedion in the back.

Maeve chuckled, stepping closer to Aelin, "Call off your dog," she whispered, grinning slowly.

Aedion raised his chin but did not back down. "The court is on their way, unless you want to die twice I suggest you tell us where Rowan is."

"Patience, Wolf of the North, you think you'd be happy he was gone, he took your blood oath," Maeve drawled.

Aedion was about to retort when Aelin started walking around, "I'm not about to start begging to you so you better tell us what you want." She turned and stopped right behind Maeve. Aedion slipped a little closer. She nodded at him to sheath his blade.

"Come with me," Maeve crooned. "I have scores to settle."

Aelin laughed, "What makes you think I'll let my court walk into their own death?"

Maeve's smile faltered as she turned. She raised her pale hands up in the air and down at the speed of a wolf.

Aelin's eyes lit up as window opened in front of them.

It was Rowan.

Unconscious in a cell.

"ROWAN!" Aelin screamed.

"Oh no, he won't be able to hear you, that is unless you come with me."

"Aelin, no it's a trap," Aedion warned.

"I'll go," Aelin decided and announced to Maeve in a split second.

"Very well, you come alone," Maeve turned and opened a portal in the ground. "Take my hand."

Aedion grabbed Aelin before Maeve could get her hands on her.

Her heart was barely beating.

"I can't let you do this," Aedion said. "I've lost you once to that bitch I'm not losing you again."

Maeve chuckled at that.

Aelin whispered so low that only Aedion could hear, "I know what it's like being tortured by her, I will be damned if I let Rowan endure that."

Aedion loosened his grip on her. "I'm coming with." Aelin shook her head.

If Aedion came with there would be no one to manage Terrasen while the Queen and King were gone.

Aedion seemed to read her thoughts, "Lysandra will be here."

"She won't let you," Aelin said a bit louder. "I have to go, Aedion. I will back."

She looked her cousin in the eyes once more with affection before turning her back to him, switching the eyes to flame.

Maeve held out her hand.

And Aelin took it before they both jumped into oblivion.
