Chapter 4: Good Luck, Atasei

In a beautiful and large straw and wooden house Naoharu knocked the shōji. A beautiful and tall woman wearing a plain white kimono appeared behind the sliding room divider. "Welcome back, Naoharu."
Naoharu closed his eyes and bowed to the woman. "Pleasure to see you again, Queen Likaera." Atasei's eyes largened and she imitated Naoharu. "Sorry- Pleased to meet you Queen Likaera."

Queen Likaera chuckled and smiled. "She's one of a kind, Naoharu," Queen Likaera shifted the shōji closed and placed her scented blossom candles on a coffee table, "The usual?" Queen Likaera asked Naoharu. He nodded and shoved Atasei to the coffee table, forcing her to sit down.
Queen Likaera gracefully sat down on a fluffed pillow on the floor of the coffee table. Atasei held her hands out for the queen to take and silence occured. She stood still waiting for something to happen. The only thing that happened was Naoharu scolding her to shut her eyes.
Atasei shut her eyes and a vision formed. The work of Likaera's magic worked like a charm as always.

There are either two chess pieces but three positions in life. Everyone in this world of Chess is either a normal human that can live off normal resources or two chess pieces that are either Light or Dark. In order to live for the Chess pieces, they must either kill any life force like Humans or if they want to live longer, they must kill their opposing side. If you want to determine your blood-born side, you must have a blood test at the border. You can change your side if you prove you're worthy enough to the leader (Dark King/Queen and Light King/Queen) and the leader can change your blood with an easy ritual.

You can work together with clans, organizations, and groups to make things easier but in both sides, there is a school that helps you with your skills. And after the school hours, you can challenge someone to rank higher.

Atasei opened her eyes when the review finished but Queen Likaera still remained with closed eyes and her head tilted to the ceiling.
Naoharu stood at the corner of the room crossing his arms and legs staring at the two.
After a few moments of silence, Queen Likaera still kept her eyes closed but she held Atasei's hand tightly as it shook. Atasei immediately faced Queen Likaera and she'd seen a flash of a smile.

Naoharu tried reading Queen Likaera with his ability of Telepathy but what was the point anyway? She was ten times stronger than him in telepathy and she probably had it shielded from being read.
Queen Likaera's eyes opened and her icy blue eyes revealed again. "You are special."

The woman stood up and asked Naoharu to come with her to another room and for Atasei to stay.
Atasei tapped her fingers on the coffee table, waiting for the shōji to open.
Naoharu stepped back into the room as if nothing happened but he looked at Atasei. "What were you guys talking about? What happened?" Atasei was worried about her future. "It was small talk of how special you were." Queen Likaera replied. " I think that's bullshit. You're hiding something from me!"
Naoharu ran up to Atasei's angered face, and he stared down at her. "Respect the queen, you Pawn."

Queen Likaera approached the two and told them, "How about you two have a walk around the mountains outside." She smiled only at Naoharu as if they had an inside joke going on. "Fine." He snapped and whipped his face in front of Atasei when he turned directions and walked to the steps.

He paused and looked back. "Are you going or what?" Atasei brushed her shoulders and shuffled her hair. "What a girly thing to do." Naoharu rolled his eyes and placed his hands in his pockets. The insult caught her attention. Atasei chased after Naoharu, hoping he would take it back. Queen Likaera watched the two teenagers dash off and vanish.
