Amy's Pov
"Amy, wake up!" My mom called from her room.
"I'm up!"
"Get your ass moving! You are not being late for your first day!"
"I'm up!"
I threw the blanket off of me and sat up. I looked around my deteriorating room. The same pictures have been on the wall since I was 6. The only new furniture I have gotta is from my dad when he took the job overseas. He knew what hell I was in for and left me here with her. That was too long ago.
I got up and put on an oversized shirt with a pair of jeans I stole from the goodwill. I had to, mom will not let me get a job or buy me new clothes. I put on my hammy down shoes from my mom. I brushed my brown hair putting it in my gray beanie then grabbed my book bag I got from dad as well. He stuffed it with notebooks and other supplies. He wants me out of here but he will take me out. I have to fight. Before I left the safety of my room, I covered what was left of the bruise on my neck from my mom with the make-up I stole from mom's room.
I don't know why I am covering her ass.
"What took you so long!" She spat out when I walked down the steps.
"Good morning."
"I don't feel like cooking so here." She handed me a frozen breakfast sandwich.
As I was nuking my breakfast I grabbed my cell phone and made sure I had everything.
"What time is school done?" She asked getting eggs and bacon out of the fridge. So much for not wanting to Cook.
"I am not sure, I will text you when I am on my way home."
The microwave buzzed letting me know my processed breakfast was done.
"Now get your food and get the hell out of my house!"
"Bye." I grabbed my shit and headed to school. I haven't said I love you to my mom since I was 10. There is no love.
The walk to school was long but it gives me time to be alone. I'm used to it but, I'm not in those four cold walls. When I got to school I was one of the first. I told her that school started earlier then it did so I can get away from her sooner.
"Miss. Nelson, what are you doing here so soon? The school doesn't open for another 30 minutes." Mr. F said walking to me.
"Hello Mr.F, I couldn't sleep so I figured I would get started on the walk."
"Nervous about being a senior?"
"Excited, I am almost out of here. You are all dressed up for the first day. Nice suit."
"Thank you, I didn't know if I should slick the hair back or leave it."
"Definitely leave it like it is! If you slick it back then you would look like you stuck your hair in the freezer."
We both looked at each other and laughed.
"Miss. Nelson, come on in. You can sit in my room until it's time for everyone else to get here. I am not letting you stay out here by yourself."
"Why?"
"It's not safe out here for you to be alone, I would stay but I need to get ready for the first day of class, 8 times."
"Will you get in trouble?"
"No, and if I do, oh well. At least I know your safe."
"Thanks, Mr. F."
He held the door open for me as I walked in, I'm not used to anyone actually caring about my safety. We walked into his room and I took a seat in front of his desk.
