Mark's Pov

"Look at this one!" Amy pulled me down the hallway to look at another painting, I like art don't get me wrong but, but this is a lot. But, seeing the smile on her face as she is looking at all of it is worth it.

"What do you think it means?" I asked wrapping my arms around her, I rested my chin on her shoulder.

"Well, it looks like a puppy playing with a ball." She giggled.

"Do you think the puppy is happy? Or the puppy is taking the ball and hiding it." I tried to sound serious but we both cracked up laughing.

"The puppy is happy." She said turning around facing me.

"Happy is good."

I kissed the top of her head, we stood there in each other's arms for a little, the Expo wasn't too crowded, but there were enough people that we could blend in.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked.

"How it is so wonderful to see you so happy." I looked down at her.

"That's thanks to you."

"All I did was make sure you have what you need to stay alive."

"Thank you for that." She snuggled into me.

I moved her over a little to avoid a jerk from walking right into her, He looked like he was trying to knock her over.

"I know him." She whispered as she hid into me.

"Why would he try to hurt you?"

"My mom brainwashed him, he is my cousin."

"Ahh, so he just needs to be told what really happened to you and I will not have to knock his teeth out for trying to hurt you." I kissed the top of her head then we kept walking down the hallway.

"My aunt is over there." She looked dead ahead.

"Let's go say hi."

She nodded her head yes then we walked over.

"Hi, Aunt Leah." She said weakly.

"Amy, I didn't think you would be here." She spat at her.

"I love art, it helped me escape my mom. It gave me a way to forget the abuse."

"Abuse? You are the toxic one."

"No, that is what mom wanted you to think that way you would not help me." The tears started to form in Amy's eyes. "She mentally, emotionally and physically abused me every day. Once dad left she started to drink really bad, that is when it all started. I would run to you guys for help, so she decided to tell you horrible lies about me, so you would blackball me."

"My sister would never do that, she loves you."

"This is not going to go anywhere, just answer me one thing, please then we will leave you alone. Why did my dad leave?"

Her aunt's eyes softened.

"You don't know?"

"No, mom told me it's best not to remember, I know it has something to do with uncle Frank but, that's it. Have you heard from my dad? He stopped answering my calls and his letters come back."

She looked at Amy in shock.

"I don't believe that your mother didn't tell you."

"Again, this conversation is not going anywhere, okay. Please, don't tell mom I am here or who I am with. She has already tried to kill me at school. Bye, Aunt Leah."
