The deal between Hilltop and the strangers was made earlier that day. And the woman agreed to give more food to Hilltop. Paesyn got a glimpse of the older woman but did not dare go closer. Paesyn dislikes strangers and new people. Sure, there are exceptions. But they are rare.

After the sun set, Paesyn's replacement came early. Paesyn reluctantly handed the position over to the man but she knew that Maggie wanted her assistance in preparing for the Saviors' attack. Exhausted, Paesyn trudges to the mansion.

Paesyn approaches Maggie, "Hey. What can I do to help?"

——

"This is Maggie. Maggie Rhee. The Widow," Maggie was visibly upset as she had to relive the nickname given to her after her husband's murder.

Simon replies to her over the walkie talkie, "Well then. Hello again, Widow Rhee, and allow me to offer my condolences. For what's happened and what's about to happen. In case it's not already plain as Hilltop potatoes, yours truly is speaking on behalf of Negan this go 'round. And I assure you that the man himself personally received your care package next day delivery. I noticed it was the box that I gave you in good faith— trick's on me."

Simon kept rambling threats. Paesyn didn't care to listen to the man. The plan made sense and there were no faults.

Maggie attempts to make a trade off with the Saviors: "Your 38 people are alive and breathing. Turn around and leave us be, and they stay that way. But if you don't, I have 38 bullets that I will personally fire into all 38."

Maggie holds the radio next to Alden's head so he could speak into it, "It's too nice a night to spend it dyin' slow, don't you think, Simon?"

Maggie speaks into the radio that was now hovering over her mouth, "So how's this gonna go?"

Simon rejected Maggie's offer with calling the prisoners "damaged goods".

Bullets were flying. A couple of times, Paesyn felt the bullets whizz past her head.

When the shoot-out broke out, Maggie ordered Dianne to take the prisoners into Maggie's office. Paesyn stayed with Maggie as she ordered people. The brunette followed her into the mansion to prepare for the next stage of the plan.

Snipers at the window started to shoot out all the headlights on the cars in the camp. This left the world around them in complete darkness.

Paesyn could barely hear the whispering of the Saviors down below. Patiently, the defenders of the attack waited until the perfect time to strike.

Suddenly, the lights come on from parked cars and from flashlights in the windows of the mansion. Paesyn with the other snipers began shooting down Saviors. With every target Paesyn hit, the greater she felt. The Saviors were dying off, just as they should be.

The Saviors were chased out and victory was for Hilltop.

——

The next day Maggie called Paesyn to her office.

"You wanted to see me?" Paesyn enters the room.

"Yeah. I need you to stand guard for a savior as he buries his dead," Maggie pauses her earlier task to look up at Paesyn.

"Really? I'm always guarding the prisoners. I want to use my skills for something more useful," Paesyn argues.

Maggie agrees, "And I will meet your request. But for now, I need you to guard him."

Paesyn nods, "Alright. But I'm not guarding the prisoners anymore."

——

Maggie cuts the ropes off of Alden's wrists, "We can get you outside the gates— with a guard," Maggie nods toward Paesyn. "So you can bury your people."
