How the hell stupid are you thinking youve met this kid, you'd remember his face if you did, pft, yeah, lets just call him link because thats not childsih and stupid calling him by the name of a video game character.
I mentally slapped myself in the face as i ran through clocktown, i entered the mask shop and the mask salesman sat at the desk, i got the mask i needed for the quest and continued.
Why the hell do i know this so well, sure this is my favorite game but... even I dont remember something in a game like this, the layout... its all so familiar, like ive physically touched it and walked these grounds.
I navigated the character, link, to a villiage and... what? i do not remember this being part of the game. It was a small villiage with matching houses set up like an average neighborhood.
This... this isnt right...
I walked up to the one house out of reflex and the button told me i could go in, i did, and when i walked in there was diologue ive never ever seen before 'Welcome home, dad'
The charater was a girl, a blond girl with blue eyes. This... This isnt real what the hell? her avatar got up and hugged link, link hugging back. What is going on i swear to god. alright, thats wnough. I saved the game and then turned off the system.
"Get the fuck up and get ready for school" my brother yelled to me, i stood up and dressed quickly, then grabbed my stuff seeing the time. I hadnt gotten a wink of school. I took some of my money and shoved it in my pocket then quickly left my room and walked past my brother, running downstairs and leaving the house, just like every school day.
I hated confrontation with my father because he was usually hungover in the mornings, or rather hardly at that, he was alsways drunker than drunk and it was a rarity to see him sober.
My brother wasnt that nice but he was nicer than my father at least. He wouldnt resort to hitting me unless he was really ticked off. I ran to the busstop and nearly missed the bus, i got on and took my usual seat, well, i went to but there was a boy sitting there.
"ben?" he said my name as if he was asking who i was and i nodded "hi" "hey" "can i.. sit with you?" he nodded and moved his stuff to his lap. "so.... whered you get the... stuff... if you dont mind me asking...?" "one of the nurses got it for me and is paying for me to go to school... i insisted she didnt have to but she was nice and yeah..." "well thats good i mean... schools boring though..." "eh, its something new for me"
"hey... um... im not usually allowed to have friends over but i want to show you something... do you think i could come over after school with you? or... i mean i have to go to my house first but yeah... i... wanna show you something." "sure thats fine"
i smiled a little then my smile faded. "the NPCs in my game have been changing..." "NPCs?" "non playable characters, the background characters and such that you can interact with" "oh, what do you mean?" "ill show you when we get home. Its...weird..."
"hm... well it sounds intresting" "yeah..."
The rest of the ride to school was silent and i turned on music, growing sick of the bus's crappy country music. my earbuds stayed in the whole time and when we got to school, i took one out and walked in with link.
