there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

seulgi asked him if he wanted to eat out. she was in a better mood today, jimin didn't have the heart to say no to her. but seulgi knew based on his brief text responses to meet her at their usual fast food restaurant, he wasn't up for it.

he was still sad.

but, it was nice to see that their group was returning to normal. sooyoung started spamming his dm's once again with weird obama memes, jungkook and taehyung were back at annoying each other in their group chat, and seulgi was joking around more.

lalisa and jennie, he didn't know because with them came chaeyoung, and whenever he thought of that pretty red head he wanted to cry.

"jimin."

he glanced up from his phone, then blinked twice. it was her, not seulgi.

seulgi👺
i saw chae. i'm gonna leave
you two resolve your breakup,
and get closure, okay? don't be
mad please ❤️ love you

jimin sighed, shoving his phone away. "why are you here chaeyoung?"

"was just getting dinner." she mumbled. "but i saw you. i really need to talk to you."

his throat was tight. jimin found it hard to speak, he couldn't form words, wanted to tell her to go away, but he couldn't. he didn't want to, he couldn't. he still liked her, it wasn't something he could just turn off. jimin hadn't expected her of all girls to just dump him off to the side with no explanation, nothing.

he had been angry at first, but now he was just sad. so, so...sad.

"did i do something?" he whispered finally, rubbing his sweaty palms on the fabric of his jeans.

"no. no, of course not." chaeyoung bit her lip. "my mom found out and she forced me to. she made sure i deleted you from my contacts and everything."

"and you couldn't tell me that?" he sighed aloud. "chaeyoung, you—"

"i felt ashamed, okay? i always told you that i would tell them about you. i was scared, i could never do it. i felt like a coward, felt like i let you down. and i just...didn't know how else to do it."

"but, i realized that i probably really hurt you." she nodded to herself. "and you don't deserve a coward like me. you really don't, because you're smart, considerate, funny, sweet...you're everything that a girl could wish for. and i'm sorry that i did that to you. it was really nice, being with you. i enjoyed it while it lasted. whoever gets to be the girl who you spend the rest of your years with, she's lucky. because you are truly something, park jimin."

her words fumbled, it's like her tears and lips were becoming one, and she couldn't continue without evidently sounding like she was about to breakdown again.

"and in a good way." she breathed, her glossy eyes meeting his soft brown ones. "thank you. i hope that we can be friends still."

she didn't waste a second after her last words, and chaeyoung briskly headed for the nearest exit. outside the restaurant, was when she could finally breathe.

she let out a loud shaky exhale, instantly sobbing afterwards, and reaching for her face with one of her hands. she wasn't over him, not yet.

she still liked him.

"so that's it?" jimin's soft voice reentered her ears. she couldn't look up, face still in her hands.

"chaeyoung, are you just going to continue to be a coward and bend to your parents' will even if that's not what you want?"

"no." she mumbled, shaking her head. "i won't listen to them. i'm done putting my feelings aside for them."

"do you mean it?" he asked. "do you really mean it?"

"i lost you because of that." chaeyoung sighed, staring up at the sky. "of course i mean it."

jimin swallowed, then wringing his hands together.

"then be my girlfriend again."

"what?" chaeyoung turned, shocked. "jimin, you—"

"i love you." he whispered.
