I walked down the stairs and entered the kitchen to have breakfast.
"Boo!"
"Allah!!" I yelled bending down and throwing my hands over my head.
I heard bhabhi and Aamir laughing.
I looked up threateningly.
"What was that! Huh?!" I yelled "You guys plan on killing me before my wedding?!" I spoke throwing my hands all over the place.
On the day of the engagement, they fixed the wedding dates which was mid January. The wedding and nikkah was on the 16th and the Waleema was on the 18th.
Aamir was now bent over clutching his stomach. He was still laughing.
"Chill babes. We only scared you, you wont die." Bhabhi said.
"I could have died! you never know." "And between, what are you doing here?" I asked her.
she was wearing a denim with a baby pink shirt and a white shawl rested on her shoulder. Her brown shoulder length wavy hair was thrown back into a pony tail.
"Rude!" She and Aamir yelled in unison.
"Whateves!" I said flipping my hair in a sassy way.
"Okay okay. Get dressed. We're going out." Bhabhi said.
"Ooh! Where?!" I asked excitedly.
"Last time I recall, the only reason we stepped out of this house, was because we had to shop for a particular someones wedding." She said to Aamir. "What makes that particular someone think we have other purposes to leave the house for?"
"Bhabhi, that particular someone is right here! So be polite." I said smiling sweetly.
"Yeah yeah whatever." She said flipping her hair like I previously did.
"Don't be mean bhabhi jaan. I'll come, but will you buy me food?" I asked excitedly.
"Yes yes, I will. Now go dress. Between, we're having company, so dress well." She said smirking.
"What do you mean! I always dress cute!" I said. "And who is this extra person giving us company? Is it a person or many?" I asked.
"Cant say. Wont say." Bhabhi said winking. "I'll pick an outfit for you, you have your breakfast."
I nodded my head in response.
~~~~~~~~
"Okay okay. But please, just liner at least." Bhabhi pleaded.
"No bhabhi! I don't feel like wearing makeup, even if its 'just liner.' " I said pouting.
"only liner! please. please" she kept on pleading.
"okay! fine! But." I said smiling sweetly.
"Of course there's a but! you'll never give in that easily." bhabhi replied.
"Good, you know me. Its simple. The question is, is it one person or more?" I asked smiling.
"Two! We're having two people coming with us." bhabhi huffed.
"Okay." I said as she started applying the liner
Maybe its Kaya and Hana?! Girls day out? But why would she want me to dress cute? Those two have seen me at my worst.
"I love when you wear liner, it makes your huge black eyes even bigger, and it makes you extra cute." Bhabhi said.
"Yeah yeah whatever. You do know that I can apply it by myself, right?" I said.
"Shush." She said doing the other eye.
Meanie.
"Done done. Now let me have a look at you from top to bottom." Bhabhi said clapping her hands excitedly.
I stood up from my rotating vanity chair and posed for bhabhi.
Bhabhi whistled lowly. "That's my girl!"
I couldn't help but laugh.
"You love exaggerating, don't you." I asked.
"Na uh. You're just too hot babe. I mean, look at you." she said.
I was wearing a black skinny jeans paired with a white shirt which had black grid lines on it, and since it was cold I planned on wearing a grey trench coat over it.
I draped my black hijab and lastly strapped my silver watch on.
"Shoes or boots?" I asked bhabhi.
"Boots! Your grey heeled knee length boots would be perfect." she replied.
I slipped into the boots while bhabhi quickly draped her white hijab.
"Okay lets go!" She said turning away from my vanity.
"Okie dokie" I said smiling.
"What the hell was that?" bhabhi asked laughing.
"Probably okay? I learnt it from Vernice. I asked her if she wanted to play with me, and she said 'okie dokie.'" I said shrugging my shoulders.
"Awww. How is Vernice doing now? and I like the way okie dokie sounds." Bhabhi said walking out of my room.
"Vernice is doing good, alhamdulillah. She's improved a lot. I took her to the park two days back, and she associated well with the kids there. she doesn't flinch at the slightest things now. She's so sneaky though! She knows that I have a soft spot for her, and so she puts of her cute face, and then end up getting everything her way." I said following bhabhi out of the room.
"Aww, such a cutie. That's really good improvements mashaallah. So proud of you." Bhabhi said turning around and smiling at me once we reached the ground floor.
"Mashaallah. Look at the two of you, so pretty." Mama said.
She kissed both of our foreheads smiling.
"Awww jazakallah mama jaan." I said kissing one side of her cheeks while bhabhi kissed the other. "Mama, whos joining the two of us? bhabhi wont say me" I asked shooting my shot at my last option.
"Daaria didn't tell you?" She asked me then looked at bhabhi.
I put on my innocent face and spoke "No mama.. Can you tell me though?" I said smiling innocently while fluttering my eyes.
"No." she said smiling "If Daaria didn't tell you, then neither am I."
"Wow. Ganging up with your daughter in law, against your daughter, very sweet.." I said looking down at my watch to see the time, and in the process I noticed my engagement ring.
Not once did I take the ring off my finger in the past one and a half months, it was a part of me now, every time I had my anxiety attacks, I would hold on to it, it calmed me down. in fact I held on to the ring all the time, I would always be messing with it, twisting and turning, then pulling it back and forth. I was a weird girl.
Arhaan said he would never message me until we were married, he only sent that one message on our engagement night and I didn't reply to it, he didn't want me to do so too. I hadn't spoken or seen him since the lunch party Arhaans family invited us over for, it was three days after the engagement. once in a while I would go through the engagement pictures, which would bring a huge smile on my face. That was basically it.
"Bhabhi, its 12. Where is our companions at?" I asked, and just as I shut my mouth I heard the door bell ring.
"They're here." Bhabhi mouthed smiling.
Mama walked by us to go open the door and I heard someone say salams.
The voice was extremely familiar. That voice, I had made that mellifluous voice my very favorite. It was Arhaans.
But what was he doing here!
"Bhabhi! Don't tell me we're going shopping, with him!" I whisper yelled.
"Oh its with him alright." She replied smirking.
