"Guys, no! This is not the one. Its too revealing for a first date, he'd think I'm desperate. So choose something more decent please." I said to Hana and Kaya as I hung the short red dress back in its place.
"Ugh fine. Next." Kaya said to me through the laptop which sat on the mint green vanity.
I was skyping with Hana and Kaya.
I was going on my date with Arhaan today. I hadn't seen him the whole of today. He said he had an 'emergency' meeting and so he left at 2pm. He said he'd be home at 8 to pick me up for our date, but not before saying I could let my hair down, since it'd only be the two of us. That's only if wanted to though.
I picked off a white, simple quarter sleeved gown and showed it to them.
"No. Too simple. This is your first date. His eyes has to drop out, his jaw has to fall off a little, and all of that you know, so this isn't the one, next." Hana said.
I glared at her and blushed as I went through the closet again.
"This! This is the one." I yelled as I showed them a baby blue gown which had a boat neck, it was quarter sleeved and from knee down, it had a slit on the either sides of the gown.
"Ooh! This one it is!" Kaya yelled.
"Perfect." Hana said nodding her head in satisfaction.
"Okay girl. Chop chop. Get dressed. Its 4pm already!" Kaya said clapping her hands.
"Eh. I have four hours! That's too much time." I replied.
"Oh wait, I forgot you, don't apply make up!" Kaya said sweetly. "But guess what? Today you will!" She yelled.
I stared at her through the screen, Hana doing the same.
"Oops." Kaya said. "Got carried away. I mean why do you hate makeup? Isn't it fun to apply?"
Hana and I waited a second longer before we burst out laughing.
"God silly! I guess I'll wear make up, but I'll go light yeah." I said.
"Hmm, light is fine." kaya replied.
"And hair? Just let it down? Or braid it or something?" I asked.
"You know plenty of hairstyles. You'll be fine. The crown braid would be cute though. Elegant." Hana said.
"Totally." Kaya said agreeing with Hana.
We spoke for a little longer and then I had to go off since kaya chased me away...
I had a long warm shower before I started my make up. Winged liner and pink lipstick. Thats considered as makeup too yeah? Yeah.
I separated my hair from the middle and Dutch braided both the halves starting from front, and clipped it both at the back and let it flow down.
I then slipped into my gown and after minutes of debating whether I should wear heels or flats, I wore a pair of white tie up sandal flats
I took my phone off the vanity and checked the time before I slipped out of the room.
I called Arhaan to check on him, since he had to get home and dress too. Once he answered, he said I needn't worry about it and he'd be here at 8pm to pick me up.
It was 7:42pm. Eighteen minutes more.
These were going to be the longest eighteen minutes of my life.
I walked into the kitchen and had a glass of water as an attempt to calm me down.
I started pacing up and down the hall while I repeatedly slapped my phone on my palm. I passed by the sliding door to the balcony and saw my reflection on the tinted glass.
'Ugh. Is this dress extra?!' I thought to myself as I walked closer to the sliding doors. 'Maybe I should change and wear something more simple.'
I hated having second thoughts! Ugh! I was about to make a rush to my room and change my outfit when I heard the door bell ring.
"Damn it." I whispered under my breath as I checked the time.
It was 8pm on the dot. He was here on time.
I took a deep breath and speed walked to the door.
I pulled the door open and couldn't help but stare.
I expected him to be in his work wear, but no. He was instead in freshly pressed clothes, black jeans and a white shirt which perfectly hugged his fit body, his sleeves were rolled up, and he was carrying a bouquet of roses.
He looked extremely good.
My flushed face soon found its way back to his, only to see him staring back at me wide eyed.
Oh god! Maybe the dress is too much!
"I knew it! This dress is too much isn't it? Give me two minutes please. I'll be right back wearing something more simple." I said turning away from the door in an attempt to go to the room and change, but I wasn't far when I felt his hand clasp mine and twirl me back, which made me crash into his firm chest.
While one of my hand rested in his, and the other on his chest, I looked up at him shocked.
"You look gorgeous. Don't even think about changing." He whispered.
"Oh o- Okay." I said.
"Flowers for the lady." He said as he handed me the flowers winking. He then bent down and whispered in my ears. "Can I come in?"
I felt my inside do all sorts of stunts as his minty breath tickled my neck.
I cleared my throat. "Of course you can. My husbands not at home, he's away for the weekend." I said playing along and spicing it up.
He widened his eyes before he composed. "So you're telling me, right now, you live here all by yourself?" He asked looking around like it was his first time here.
I laughed and replied. "Yeah." I said as I walked into the balcony and saw him follow me. I settled the roses into an empty vase and filled it with water
"I can give you company. If you know what I mean?" He asked coming to stand next to me and wiggling his eyebrows
I widened my eyes in reply and slapped his shoulder.
He laughed and stretched his hand in my direction.
I set my hand in his and took a step forward.
"You look breathtaking Azoora. You really do." He whispered as he held my gaze.
I looked down blushing. "You look handome too." I replied as I tried hard to not melt.
He gave me a warm smile before he spoke "Lets go?"
"Lets" I said as I gently nodded my head and smiled in return.
